Hello Adstrata! I am Dante Pendragon, your curious host, who was isakaied from a world called Earth, is now trapped here on Adstrata in the prison of the evil undead pizza loving skull, my good friend Tony Pepperoni. Although we are trapped here in the Conservatory, we are able to send and receive a magical radio broadcast as we endeavor to learn and share enough to help us Escape from Unknowable Conservatory...or as you out there have come to call it....the news. Welcome to another installment of Escape from Unknowable Conservatory! With me as always is Tony! Say hi Tony! :REDACTED: Nice. It is another hot summer day here at the Conservatory. When I was back home, and the heat was really getting to me, one thing that I really enjoyed was going to the beach. It seems like many of you have the same idea. When we asked about ways to cool off, your responses overwhelmingly involved some form of bathing. Today, for our Community Outreach segment, we are going to take a look at some regions around Adstrata that have a vibrant seaside culture. Tony, were you a big bather...before? :REDACTED: Oh. Well that might not be the case anymore Tony Pepperoni, my old friend. It seems from the feedback we are getting, that the seas around Adstrata are pleasant...and MOSTLY peaceful. We'll here more about that...later One of the more interesting traditions that I heard about are the Bebeales. Very popular in Ayer and other coastel regions, the Bebeales are an amphibious creature that spend much of their time floating near the shallows off the coast. These 6 legged large beasts are largely hairless, except for a long, thick area on their back. Have you ever seen a Beable Tony? :REDACTED: What the Beables do is....the have a natural swim bladder that lets them sink about 3 feet into the water. So they are almost always just below the surface. Apparently, the hair on their back floats up, creating an artificial surface, similar to the ocean floor. This attracts fish which they then eat. That's pretty cool right? :REDACTED: What people have started doing, and we'll have to thank our friends the Grinders for discovering this, is that a Beable will be brought on shore. Someone will climb on top, kind of.. burrow into the massive hair on top, and then the Beable. They use mostly domesticated Beables in cities like Ayer, but I have heard of people pulling this off with wild ones. The rider will disrobe, hidden in the hair to allow them to preserve their modesty and place their clothes in a watertight vessel. The Beable will then walk out into the water, allowing the rider to safely enjoy the waters, without having to feel self conscious about being viewed walking into the sea naked. :REDACTED: That's...gross Tony. :REDACTED: So...what? Alot actually. It's a little messed up. Anyway, I am proud to announce that this segment has brought to you by Batty Meable's Bargain Basement Bathing Beables! Servicing the Ayer coastal region, Batty has Beable's of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Perfect to enhance your bathing experience! Now offering rentals! I say we take a little break and talk a little bit about Life Inside the Conservatory: Was that thunder? We could really use some rain. I'm sure you are tired of hearing it. I am tired of talking about it, but it is sooo hot here. We don't get any wind because we are walled in here. Storms are really our only opportunity to cool off during the day. We have had a few lately. I always love a summer storm. Sitting near the window, reading a book, watching the rain fall, smelling the petrichor. :REDACTED: Petrichor. Its the smell of first rain on very dry earth. It's really cool. Humans apparently are evolutionarily tuned to it, because it means that water is coming. :REDACTED: You're a wha- ? Oh. I get it. No Nose. :REDACTED: ANYWAY...Tony, becuase deep down is actually a huge softey and caring despite how frequently he wishes he could return to his evil ways..has been helping me to learn how to read. The books and scrolls that are left around here are all pretty advanced theories on things like physics and maths. Not a lot of 'My name is', 'Where is the bathroom' type writing in them, but we're coming along slowly. :REDACTED: Thanks! Tony has really been keeping me focused. Any time I get distracted and am about to wonder off, he reminds me and we get right back to it. :REDACTED: We're working on it! I can do this! :REDACTED: Listeners...I can do magic! I mean...I can create this pink bubble for a second or two. I think i'm supposed to be making fire, but its not working right Tony's been keeping me really on track, so I haven't really had much of a chance lately to explore or to figure out how to tune my lyre. I'm starting to think that Tony is using me learning to read as an excuse so that I never fix this instrument. :REDACTED: Well jokes on you Tony! I figured it out! Check it! Well its....that special time, your favorite time, to save our friend whos bony...well try some ideas, yours and mine, as we try to realive tony! In my world, many cultures believe that music can reach your soul. Something like...the fourth, the fifth....and then...something. I haven't seen Shrek in a while. :REDACTED: No....although...maybe. He was this orge, and a donkey...its. I'll explain it later...there is a lot to it. Is there any music magic in this world? Something that like...I could play and it would bring back your vitality? :REDACTED: Yeah, maybe not now, but if I keep practicing...? Would that work? :REDACTED: Oh. Alright. I was kind of hoping that might be it. We return now to our main story. Moving beyond the Ayer coast we reach Morthak's Bay. The large bay is notorious for the dangerous whirpools that fill it. Between those whirlpools, are some small islands. Some of you, listeners, are FROM those islands. You reached out and told us that it is an annual tradition for the older children and younger adults to spend the year building boats or other nautical crafts to ride the whirlpools. We have something called Surfing on Earth. Where people will stand on large wooden boards and use them to ride in on waves. It can be very dangerous, but is a popular sport all over our world. I imagine thrill seeking is a universal pursuit and that it would be sensational to watch some of the tricks and builds these people have put together. Please stay safe out there listeners! Do not tempt whirlpools or monster infested waters if you can help it. It's always better to try and stay safe. I always enjoy wading out into a nice shallow tidal pool, where the sun has warmed up the water to a perfect temperature. :REDACTED: That's...I don't think thats the reason. And if it was...why am I stuck here with you? :Karma?: I need to stop teaching you things just so you can throw them back in my fa - Do you hear that? What...hold on...... :REDACTED: Shh .... ... Are you sure you didn't hear anything? I could have sworn there was some kind of rumbling. :REDACTED: Ok. Yeah. I mean I don't hear anything now, maybe I was mistaken. I don't know...maybe I'm..we're trapped in here. I've been here so long, just trapped in this school on this world where nothing makes sense. :REDACTED: Yeah. Thanks. Yes. We will figure out this place and we will escape, get Tony's body back, and get me back home! Ok. Where were we...oh yeah! The last portion of our in depth investigation into Adstratan bathing...embracing the heat. But before that, I just want to thank our sponsor, Mama Morthak's Maritime Merry Making! Adstrata's largest purveyer of EXTREME nautical conveyances! Visit your local Mama's at any of their 14 locations. Tell them Dante and Tony sent you for an 8 percent discount! Continuing on our journey, We received several recommentations for two places that most people might not expect to be a can't miss summer destination. First, we should talk about Waha, the Oasis city we talked about not too long ago! I believe we mentioned that the shifting pools of Waha have mineral properties which can really help the body recover. Things in Waha are generally pretty slow this time of year. Most of the Pilgramage visitors have left, and during the warmer times, no one really thinks about visitng the desert. I have been told that this is the time of year to enjoy the oasis though. The water is crisp and cool, you get out feeling refreshed and relaxed and ready to enjoy a night of shopping and dining in the city. That also ties in to the other suggested destination...Lavaht. We have not mentioned Lavaht before on this show, but apparently it is a small city in frostier region of Adstrata. They are known for their geothermal springs. Traditionally, bathers will roll in the fresh snow and then immediately jump into one of many spring feed pools in the city. Repeating this as their temperature dictates. Getting as cold as they can stand before getting the hot waters until they are ready to embrace the cold once again. I have been told that during the warmer months, bathing takes on a much different atmosphere. Instead of rolling around in the snow to cool off, bathers will frequently bring several containers of ice cold libations to cool themselves off. There is a much more social and party like atmosphere as those in the know enjoy the relaxing baths with friend and frivolity. :I would like all of those things. A hot bath to sooth my delectable body, a cold wine to open me up......and...friends: When we get out of here Tony. Me and you, even if we haven't figured out how to fix you yet. We'll see the world! We'll go to...Lavaht...and..do the pilgr... What is that...Tony, I dont think im hearing things...something is..I know that feeli...Tony we need to go! Now! SEND HELP!
