Because we've finally reached the point in Season 4 of Vinyl-O-Matic where we've reached singles that begin with the letter M including ones that begin with Monkey! But before we get to that point, we have to know when to go out and when to stay in.

Ah yes, you're keto's got nothing on my mojo. We just heard from Larry Bright and his Tide records single from 1960 "Mojo Workout" along with "I'll Change My Ways". Incidentally, if anyone out there in listener land happens to have a VG or better copy of Bobby Long & the Satellites "Mo Jo Workout", feel free to send it to me. Prior to that we heard David Bowie and his 1983 single "Modern Love". And since the single was released while he was on the supporting Serious Moonlight tour, the flipside is a live version recorded in Montreal.
Coming up next, we have very synthy version of a classic Berry Gordie hit.

Welcome back to Vinyl-O-Matic. We kicked that last set off with The Flying Lizards and their exemplary New Wave rendition of "Money" back with a very dub-y "Money B". That is on Virgin Records from the year 1979. That was followed up with the tartan clad lads from Edinburgh, Bay City Rollers, bringing us the very riffy "Money Honey". Speaking of riffs, how about that very Brian May-esque riff on the b-side "Maryanne"? This single is on Arista Records from 1976.

Indeed, fun for the whole family. We just heard the nutsiest sound around. That was a reissue single of not one but two smash hits from Dave and Ansil Collins, "Monkey Spanner" and "Double Barrel". And all the way from Koblenz, West Germany, we got that set started off with The Rebbels (with 2 b's for extra bananas) and "Monkey Monkey" along with "Come Back". That is from 1966 on Bellaphon records.
Next up we continue the monkey business with Major Lance.

Ah, so good. If you cast your minds back to the beginning of that last set, you will recall that it was "The Monkey Time" by Major Lance along with "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um", both Curtis Mayfield penned tunes originally on Okeh Records from 1963 but reissued on Epic in 1972. We followed that up with a simian single from WFMU's master of monkey mayhem Dave the Spazz in the guise of The Chimptations. The a-side is "Monkeyshines" and the flipside of "I Go Ape".
