00:00:11:06 - 00:00:35:09 Unknown Hey, everybody. Welcome to Divots and Skins, episode six. So Brett and I are here again to talk about what's going on in golf news. So what do you got? Well, the big news this week was the US open. For those that aren't familiar. Wyndham Clark pulled off a very close victory. Most of the, week of the first three days, he had a pretty sizable lead. 00:00:35:11 - 00:00:57:09 Unknown On the fourth day. I got down to within one shot, of second place. And he he finished a little bit more strongly than his opponent did, and he ended up pulling off the victory. That's his second major. He's won. Very good golfer. He's climbed up towards it. You know, top of the world rankings. Now, I don't know exactly where he lies, but he's up near the top now. 00:00:57:11 - 00:01:17:08 Unknown But he did just enough. The big thing he did all week extremely well was putting. You know, from everything from lag putting to, you know, anything inside of 25ft. It seems like he made them all. So he did that incredibly well. He managed the golf course because, Shinnecock Hills here in, New York State is, very, very difficult, of course. 00:01:17:11 - 00:01:35:00 Unknown And he, he, he played the course very well, despite how tough it is, how deep the rough is. The greens are, as some of the pros said, next to impossible. He ended up being one of only two players, if I'm not mistaken, that finished under par. Him in second place finish under par. Everybody else was even or worse. 00:01:35:02 - 00:01:56:17 Unknown And we're talking some of the top names in the world. Rory McIlroy finished behind, I believe both of the amateurs that made it to the final past the cut. He he finished behind both of those just to show you just how immensely tough of course it was. Yeah. Now, if you don't know this story about Wyndham Clark, there is a bit of history with him, unfortunately. 00:01:56:17 - 00:02:18:18 Unknown Last year. He missed the cut at the US open and decided to take out his anger on the locker room at Oakmont and unfortunately got himself banned from Oakmont and really penalized and and New Yorkers were not going to let him forget that. The crowds in New York are tough. But man, those crowds were brutal to him. 00:02:18:20 - 00:02:36:23 Unknown They were cheering when he missed shots. They were cheering when he went off the green, when he had a chip shot that went long. They were just brutalizing him. And I don't know that I necessarily agree that that's the way that they should have created him. I understand there's a lot of animosity towards him because of his behavior in the past. 00:02:36:29 - 00:02:54:25 Unknown And I know they interviewed him afterwards and actually during the weekend and said, hey, like, how are you dealing with the crowds? And he had many understands it's New York. But he said it is tough. And he's and they asked him specifically, which I thought this was a funny thing because I'm like, isn't this a wrestling term? They're like, would you be okay with being on the heel of the PGA? 00:02:54:26 - 00:03:15:05 Unknown And you could see on his face he doesn't want to be. But he said, if that's what I have to do to be able to win championships, I'll do it. He did say at times that the vocal, outbursts and things like that really started to give him energy at times. But man, the other players were saying it was brutal, especially Scottie, who during his interview I thought it was interesting. 00:03:15:06 - 00:03:30:17 Unknown He's like, I'm here to talk about golf. I'm not here to talk about fans. But the one thing he did say is New York fans are tough and we've seen that before. So I am not surprised that Windham had to deal with that. Anybody that saw the Ryder Cup last year knows just how tough, you know, us fans in general. 00:03:30:17 - 00:03:50:09 Unknown But New York, you know, because it was played at Bethpage last year. You know, down there in the heart of the New York City Long Island area. It's, you know, it was ripe for, there being some over boisterous fans. I think alcohol fuels a lot of that at times. In the case of Wyndham Clark, at this particular tournament, I keep going back to in my head. 00:03:50:10 - 00:04:07:18 Unknown Well, he acted like a child at Oakmont. He got treated like a child when he came here to the next U.S. open. So he he, of all people should not be surprised, given his actions. You know, just just how people treated him, because you're always going to get that, you know, sentiment from a certain amount of fans, a certain percentage. 00:04:07:21 - 00:04:30:09 Unknown And, you know, typical of jeering, jeering usually outweighs the cheering as far as, you know, how loud they are. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see now that he's won this championship and actually took away a career championship. What was it's the Grand Slam, the career grand Slam for Scotty by winning this U.S. open because of a really good chance for Scotty. 00:04:30:11 - 00:05:03:03 Unknown And I'll be honest with you, I was disappointed you didn't get it because it was his 30th birthday. It was Father's Day and went to giving him a grand Slam. What a way. That weekend would have got quite a trifecta. Absolutely. But he walked away with his head held high. As always. He finished very high very well. But he's really having trouble starting off, and we've talked about it when we're on the golf course for like, at what point does Scotty go back to his team and go, hey, what is the deal with me not making top 30 to top 20 in the first two days? 00:05:03:04 - 00:05:19:06 Unknown What do we gotta do to change that? So I'm curious to see. I know we've got traveler travelers this weekend that he's playing in. I'm curious to see if he does any better this weekend, but man, it is tough watching the number one in the world start at the bottom of the pile and have to keep fighting his way to the top. 00:05:19:06 - 00:05:37:05 Unknown And unfortunately, he wasn't able to fight enough this time to get Wyndham off that podium. Yeah, guys, you got to remember this. This is the number one player in the world, and he's been that for quite a long stretch. Now. Now nobody's, you know, had a longer stretch than him since I believe Tiger Woods as far as consecutive weeks at number one in the world. 00:05:37:07 - 00:05:58:14 Unknown And that's saying something that this guy can't get off to a, you know, first, a good first round, his first round scoring average, ranks. I think 50. Last I saw was around 57th on tour of all active players. His second round, third round and final round scoring average are all number one. So he's burying himself in the first round. 00:05:58:14 - 00:06:15:22 Unknown And then he always finds a way to climb back out I believe this weekend he finished in a tied for third even par. So despite playing really horribly by his standards in the first round, he's he keeps finding a way to bounce back. And that's part of what golf's all about. And the mental game that that takes. Oh I had to do that. 00:06:15:22 - 00:06:34:17 Unknown And to do it over and over and over is amazing. But I can just imagine he's getting frustrated not winning because, you know, it's number one. You want to be winning those championships. And especially if you've got that Grand Slam, that career Grand Slam is that close. You know, he wants it really bad. And so he's got to have to change something. 00:06:34:19 - 00:06:52:06 Unknown The trophies at this point are what drive guys like him, not the money. So you know, finishing third means nothing to him as far as I mean, I'm sure he's proud of himself, but for climbing back. But finishing third is probably still disappointing to him, given the way he knows he started poorly and whatnot. But those guys have enough money. 00:06:52:06 - 00:07:11:27 Unknown You know, those top level players have enough money that they won't be able to spend it in ten lifetimes. They're all driven. Those high, high end players, him and Rory and guys like that, they're motivated by that trophy. They're motivated by the majors, their motive, you know, especially by the majors, and by something like the career Grand Slam, that which he, you know, was was a whisker away from getting. 00:07:11:29 - 00:07:31:25 Unknown Yeah, yeah. So in other news, the PGA this week came out, made a really big announcement. Now we're not going to share any of that with you this week because we actually need to do research on it and find out what it's talking about. But really quickly it seems like they're making some format changes, some schedule changes to what is coming up. 00:07:31:25 - 00:07:49:04 Unknown And I believe 2028 little teaser folks. It's coming around the corner. There's going to be some, I think, significant changes from what I've heard through the through the grapevine, to, to some of their formats and the amount of players they're going to allow in and so on and so forth. So it'll be interesting as we research it more, we'll bring that to folks at home. 00:07:49:11 - 00:08:06:16 Unknown And, and you'll get a better, chance to see, you know what, what kind of changes they're going to make. Now, what was interesting about this announcement is, I'm sure if you're a golf person, you know, the troubles that Tiger has been through, the things that he's done and the stuff that has not been good for his career. 00:08:06:18 - 00:08:29:24 Unknown He has been in rehab, supposedly in Switzerland, for quite a bit over the last couple months, but he was front and center at this PGA announcement, so it was really interesting to see him step up and still be that public figure for the PGA. Honestly, I'm a little surprised he's been doing a lot of stuff that's not great for his brand or the PGA brand. 00:08:29:24 - 00:08:48:02 Unknown So I'm really surprised that they allow him to step up and do it. Yeah, I was mentioning to you on the golf course earlier today that, aside from the president of the United States, the current president of the United States, I don't think there's a more polarizing figure in sports that I can think of off the top of my head than Tiger Woods. 00:08:48:05 - 00:09:10:06 Unknown I think a lot of people find him to what he has done to be abhorrent. And he's done some terrible things both to his family, and then personally, you know, his personal life, decisions he has made have been really, really poor. And people see that from somebody who's, you know, made a good million dollars in his career and think you have no excuse for making some of those decisions. 00:09:10:08 - 00:09:43:07 Unknown And other people are like, well, he's just human, despite how much money he's made. You know, he's still going to make human mistakes and so on and so forth. And they love him for the joy he brought in watching him golf. Because to some people, that's that, no pun intended, but that trumps everything else. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's unfortunate to see what he's, he's gone through and hopefully he's getting help for hopefully he's going to turn his life around and be able to continue to be in front of people about the PGA, because I know he absolutely adores what he does at the PGA, but he's got to clean up his act if 00:09:43:07 - 00:10:00:20 Unknown he's going to continue to be part of that brand and more importantly, he needs to clean up his act so he's healthy and so his own personal brand is healthy because it's really going to take a tarnish if he keeps doing the stupid things that he seems to be doing. So we've had a couple interesting tournaments come up. 00:10:00:23 - 00:10:21:00 Unknown We got asked to do a tournament on our home course, so why don't you tell him how that came about? Well, a friend of ours from our tour, his boss paid for them to be in a tournament. He thought it was going to be three employees and himself. And at the last minute, the three guys said, hey, we can't make it for various reasons. 00:10:21:00 - 00:10:32:18 Unknown I think a couple of them are sick, and one of them had to go out of town to see his, which was our buddy from tour, had to go out of town to see his daughters. I think he had to go to Pennsylvania, if I'm not mistaken, to watch his daughter play soccer. She plays travel soccer. 00:10:32:20 - 00:10:49:15 Unknown So, you know, all of them were very excused absences. But I left three spots open. But they were in a pinch. They needed somebody in a hurry. So they they gave Jake and I a call and said, we know you guys don't ever say no to, you know, a round of golf, which is pretty accurate. It is what it is. 00:10:49:15 - 00:11:10:14 Unknown And so they invited the two of us and my wife as well, because they know she's probably the most consistent hitter out of the three of us. So we went to a tournament at our home course, which was a lot of fun. What do you think of the our performance overall? It was interesting because we've talked a lot about the fact that this course is tough at our home course at Brookhaven is a tough course. 00:11:10:16 - 00:11:31:28 Unknown It is not a grip it and rip it style course. It is a very smart golfers course. And it's funny, we told you we went 11 under at Highland a couple of weeks ago. We went two under. And so I think that really showed us because it it was not the fourth guy's fault. Like he was hitting pretty decent as well. 00:11:32:01 - 00:11:53:23 Unknown But it just showed us that man even is a scramble group. We can get ourselves in trouble on this course. And so yeah, it was a tough day for us on that course and we played fairly well. I don't think any of us were really hitting 100% solid, but man, to go two under after going 11 under a couple of weeks ago just shows you the difference in the course. 00:11:53:25 - 00:12:15:29 Unknown Yeah. Our I've said for years to to Jake and anybody else who'll listen to me, you know Babylon about it, that, scrambles are all about the approach that, you can hit a drive, you know, a million miles. But if you don't tuck your approach shot into birdie range and then, you know, have it, you know, have a decent pot out of the for you, you're not going to be putting more birdies up on the board. 00:12:16:02 - 00:12:34:16 Unknown So, you know, I thought we did a pretty good job at managing the golf course. I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised with two under because, we none of us individually have golf the course particularly. Well this year. But I despite being happy about it, I also knew that, like, if we were a little tighter with our approach shots, we were getting them on the green. 00:12:34:16 - 00:12:55:11 Unknown No problem. We didn't have to sweat anything out over the course of the day. But, it's still, you know, when you're hitting 25, 30ft putts. And if you saw the greens, you know, a lot of people would, you know, understand why 25 footers aren't going to go in, even if you have four people reading them, because we have an incredible amount of break on the greens at our home course. 00:12:55:14 - 00:13:22:08 Unknown They've been slow lately, too. They've been very slow. They seem like they've been slow. I, you know, it's tough for me to judge perfectly because we keep bouncing between our home course and tour courses and our tour courses. Typically, they're going to read an 11.5, 12 on the meter. That's putting speed for those of you who don't know, and then our home course is significantly less than that, but they're probably still versus most local courses. 00:13:22:08 - 00:13:43:01 Unknown They're probably right around average. They just feel particularly slow after coming off a tour stop. Yeah, it was a fun day. I said to you when we were there that I'm amazed. I grew up in Saratoga, I live in Queensbury and Brookhaven is kind of nestled in between those two. And we got there and I knew absolutely no one. 00:13:43:04 - 00:14:04:10 Unknown And I'm like, this is probably the first time I've gone to a scramble where I don't run into anybody I know, and if it wasn't for it, three of us, I wouldn't know anybody there. So that was a really interesting experience. And it was also a golf tournament that we really hadn't heard about and knew about. So it was good to get onto a new scramble team and learn about a new scramble that's out there. 00:14:04:10 - 00:14:23:08 Unknown So maybe next year we can sign up for it. Full disclosure, we never, we had dinner afterwards. There was a bar at a separate facility that everybody met to. They, had a free barbecue chicken dinner for us. It was fantastic. And the bar owner was the one that organized the tournament to begin with. 00:14:23:11 - 00:14:42:17 Unknown And, they posted results at some point, I guess. I don't know if they just audibly set them over a microphone or whatever it was, but we were out back eating, I think possibly when they compiled all the scores, we have no idea where we finished. I heard rumors that there was a young group of kids that hit like 11, under which I find highly suspect. 00:14:42:17 - 00:15:04:07 Unknown But as I've talked about cheating and scramble tournaments before, it wouldn't surprise me if it happened there either, because I find 11 under. Unless you're talking, you know, some really low handicap golfers, like four of them in a group going 11 under there would be next to impossible. Yeah, I have to agree with you. So yes, that that was a surprise scramble in our schedule. 00:15:04:09 - 00:15:26:00 Unknown And then after that we went out to Thunder Heart which is down in freehold, New York, which is down close to the Catskills and in that area. We've been there before. We've played there a bunch of times. Not dry. I will say that I don't think the last couple times we've gone there has been very dry. The last time we went this year, it was miserable. 00:15:26:00 - 00:15:42:10 Unknown It rained the whole time. Not fun. So we went into this going, man, just give us some decent weather. And we had pretty good weather. A little windy. It was. It was quite windy. But overall, I mean, I think we got a couple sprinkles. I think if I remember right, it was very early and then it dried up the rest of the day. 00:15:42:10 - 00:15:59:05 Unknown We didn't see another drop of rain the entire day. So that was that part was particularly nice based on what we've had so far this year here. Yeah. So again, we're part of the USA tour and that is run by a gentleman who set up the Albany region this year, Don frame. And so he set this up. 00:15:59:07 - 00:16:24:09 Unknown We had what they're 1212 1616. That's right. We had 16 people there. A lot of competition this time in, in my flight, which was different from before, a couple new faces, which was great to see. And it was interesting because I went off first, which was very different than the normal way that we typically go out. 00:16:24:11 - 00:16:39:28 Unknown And so that was a little nerve racking, because we always talk about when you're hitting in front of a bunch of guys or a bunch of people, it can get a little nerve racking. So going out first this time was very different for me, but it went okay. I had a good day. I didn't have a great day. 00:16:39:28 - 00:16:59:17 Unknown I had a particular hole that if you talk to anybody on the tour, I'm sure they know about because it was awful. But I will say I won't mention any names. It wasn't the worst score for a hole that day, and I was actually happy to see that, but a little surprised. So I felt like I was hitting okay. 00:16:59:17 - 00:17:34:13 Unknown I had some good shots here and there, but man, my driver just wouldn't cooperate. My putter was just ice cold that day and I was really disappointed with that. Chipping was okay, but man, I just could not put together a series of shots to have a good series of holes. But I know I was in the top portion of the group before I had that blow up hole, and it was disappointing to know that after the fact, which we always talk about, I don't go in and look at the standings because I don't want to drive myself nuts with that, but man, I just know the way I was shooting the front nine, I was 00:17:34:13 - 00:17:53:02 Unknown doing much better than I thought I was. And then that blow a hole just ruined it for me, and there was no recovering from that, unfortunately. So how did you do? Well, I did okay, but before I talk about me, I'd like to talk about my wife real quick. And it's not to brag on her because she doesn't need anybody bragging on her, because the trophies she keep bringing home are all doing all the bragging she needs. 00:17:53:06 - 00:18:14:16 Unknown I know, I know, she won again and she won in a very exciting style. She did not golf well, early. She started coming on late. She had a sizable disadvantage, you know, coming in, I think at one point she was down as many as, like, 6 or 7 strokes. But I told her at one point, I, I told her, just keep chipping away or something like that. 00:18:14:16 - 00:18:39:20 Unknown I said, you know, that was the only passing. I don't talk to her a lot during the round. Just because we like to focus on the, on our own rounds, not on each others. And, she did just that. She kept chipping away, and her opponent just, you know, slipped a few strokes here and there. And, she got to the last hole, and she was on the green and three and sank a beautiful, probably a 18 to 22ft birdie putt somewhere in that range. 00:18:39:22 - 00:18:57:10 Unknown Knocked in the birdie, which would have won her a skin under most circumstances. We have in our on our tour we do skins. You don't have to. These are both optional. We do a skins thing, separate prize fun for that. And then we do a super skins. Skins against people in your own flight. So only against the people that are in your handicap group. 00:18:57:12 - 00:19:18:02 Unknown Super skins or giant skins, as some people call them, are against all the flights. So obviously if two people birdie, it cancels each other out. Someone would have to eagle to be the birdie, obviously. And so on and so forth. But unfortunately somebody did cancel her out just a few seconds later. Yeah, it'd be this guy. 00:19:18:04 - 00:19:44:01 Unknown I hit a birdie putt. I mind you, I was on the green and two, I shanked my first. It was a par five. I shanked my first pot way short. I it was a knee knocker. Just because I wanted to win the tournament. I knocked it to about eight feet short, but then I made the eight footer, to to seal the birdie, so that that ended up canceling out her giant skin, but she still want a skin for her fly. 00:19:44:01 - 00:20:04:26 Unknown I want a skin for my flight on that one. Earlier in the day, I had birdie. Another par five. That was a super skin for me. So I had a nice little half on the day. Overall, I hit the ball, like I have been for probably the last month and a half, which is for those of you who have heard me talk about it, you'll hear it'll the sound familiar? 00:20:04:29 - 00:20:24:00 Unknown My driver was horrific, as always. I just can't figure it out. Get the ball straight. If anybody out there wants to give me some free lessons, I'll take them all day. But I can't seem to get the driver off. Off the tee safely very often. So, you saw hitting a lot of four irons off tee boxes? 00:20:24:02 - 00:20:44:05 Unknown My four iron. I've been hitting really straight in. And for an amateur, I. You know, when I connect really well, I'm at the 215 to 20 range on a really flush four iron. So I was content with that versus getting 250, you know, getting the extra yardage, but having to risk the driver slicing into the woods or pulling it into a pond or something like that. 00:20:44:05 - 00:21:05:07 Unknown So I won. I had a smaller group compared to you guys, half the size of your group. I won fairly convincing fashion. One of them, you know, one of the guys in our group had a very large number, as Jake was just speaking of, and the other guy just never quite could, could, you know, get his approaches close enough. 00:21:05:10 - 00:21:27:17 Unknown Our buddy Jeff, he hit really well, he just couldn't get his approaches tight enough, to where he gave himself really good opportunities at sure fire pars and an occasional birdie. So it happens. But we're fortunate enough the way tonight we'll take home a trophy yet again. And at some point here, I'm gonna have to figure out what to do with all these trophies, because, you know, we got a lot that are shaped like beer mugs or beer glasses. 00:21:27:17 - 00:21:44:09 Unknown I got some funeral urn looking ones. And I got to figure out something to do with them on that one. That post them all over the house. But I got to do something other than let them collect dust. Does anybody else feel bad for him about that? I don't, he's got plenty. He's got too many trophies, too many. 00:21:44:11 - 00:22:01:13 Unknown Just I'll keep them in my apartment so I can feel better. The bigger ones common. The one I want the trophies for is coming. I know, you know. We'll talk about that in a minute. Yeah? Yeah. All right. So what did you think of the course? What are some of the things that you like that you wish were better about the course at Thunder Heart? 00:22:01:19 - 00:22:20:17 Unknown I love the layout at Thunder Heart. Thunder Hearts, I would call it almost like an Adirondack type course, but a little bit wider. But the layout is very similar because it's such a wooded concentration of a golf course. They have to do some dog legs. And typical of in the Adirondacks as well. You have a lot of water, a fair amount of water. 00:22:20:24 - 00:22:35:20 Unknown There's they kind of collected in the most areas. There are a couple creeks that ran through here and there, but for the most part it was ponds. They have one big holding pond that's there. I believe it's their pump. There's a big pump house next to it for their irrigation. That's their largest body of water on the course. 00:22:35:25 - 00:22:55:08 Unknown So not a ton of water, but just enough to make it feel like we're back home here in the Adirondacks. But I love the layout of the course. It's super interesting. There's some elevation change early, on the very, very. I'm sorry, a second hole. It's an uphill par five on the second half of it goes, you know, up pretty steep to the to the green. 00:22:55:10 - 00:23:12:13 Unknown But it's it's a super nice course, well-maintained for a course. It's very reasonably priced. I looked at their membership prices. They're they're incredibly reasonable. It is a stay in play place. If you, if you if you were interested in that type of thing. Thunder heart is in a beautiful location. Like I said, it's out in the middle of the woods. 00:23:12:16 - 00:23:32:20 Unknown It feels like you're going to Narnia when you're on your way there because you have so many backroads you have to take. But when you get there, they have a little, like, micro lodge looking place that's got a pool out back, very well-maintained pool. And they let people, you know, take golf carts up to their hotels, you know, to drop their clubs off and then run them back to the course and stuff. 00:23:32:20 - 00:23:52:26 Unknown It's because it's all an adjoining parking lot. But overall, just a really nice facility. And the peop the staff there. Absolutely. I couldn't say more nice things about the staff. I brought my second and third shirts from that place on there this year, because their prices were insane. Reasonable for a nice golf polo with a one looks like I that I bought. 00:23:52:27 - 00:24:09:11 Unknown It's got like a Barney Rubble print on it and I forget what the other one had, but they're $25 a piece. I mean, you couldn't you couldn't beat it, which you won't see them soon because I'm going to make him wear them for the YouTube thumbnail because they're very, very bright. Oh, yes. That was the other one. Bright red. 00:24:09:11 - 00:24:30:17 Unknown Bright hot pink was the other one. So yeah, he was basically the same color as Barbie's car. So. But nice looking shirt. But holy cow is that pink. So I, I love the layout as well. I think it's really, really neat. It does kind of roll through some hills and stuff. There's some narrower holes. There's some very nice wide open holes. 00:24:30:23 - 00:24:57:24 Unknown The par three is are challenging, but they're not overly crazy. They're everywhere I mean, several times. And we've been there, we've seen deer. I have a funny story where we were there last year for a round and there's a par three. It's the 10th hole, I believe, that goes over the water. And there's it's a good sized par three, a lot of water, but you have a lot of landing area to the left of the greens. 00:24:57:24 - 00:25:16:05 Unknown So you can make some smart decisions or not. But we got up on that green and none of us knew this was going to happen. And as for walking to the green towards where the water is, this giant deer leaps out of the bushes and scared the heck out of all of us, and then goes running across the green. 00:25:16:11 - 00:25:31:24 Unknown Which, if you know anything about deer and greens, that's always great because now you get all these divot marks from where the terrorist groups went into the green. But it's just such a funny story because we were all so like tense for being like, okay, we got to get to the green, we got to the green, we're good. 00:25:31:28 - 00:25:50:09 Unknown And then all of a sudden this deer just goes surprised. So it's jump out of the bushes. On that same hole is where Tom from tour. I won't mention his last name, but Tom from tour. I just want to give a little shout out or shout down to him anyway. Always check for a drop zone. Tom. Tom, Tom didn't know that there was a drop zone. 00:25:50:09 - 00:26:09:24 Unknown He hit his first one in the pond that you have to hit over. Decided to, you know, had to take his drop short of the, of the pond. And so he moved up the 40 yards or whatever from the tee box to the, you know, to the furthest point away from the, you know, for back of the pond that he could be and he well turned into a basket case and that's his words, not mine. 00:26:09:26 - 00:26:27:23 Unknown He said between losing the first one and not knowing there was a drop zone, he just completely turned into a basket case, and he put up an enormous number and took himself out of any hopes of being in the tournament. And up until that point, he was I believe, one stroke off my score for the lead for the day. 00:26:27:26 - 00:26:50:00 Unknown Yeah, that that actually brings up a point that I was going to also bring up where I made a mistake, where you really do need to look if you're using an app, look at your app. If you're using the card, look at the signs, look for those water hazards. Now, I've played this course before and I completely forgot about a water hazard that was in the middle of the fairway. 00:26:50:02 - 00:27:10:14 Unknown I hit a hybrid. I hit it really well. I was like, oh good. It went into the middle of the fairway and then I watched it roll over the edge and I'm like, oh, it must be a gully up there. Yeah, go is full of water. So make sure you look at those things before you take a shot, because those kind of dumb mistakes are what causes big scores. 00:27:10:16 - 00:27:29:09 Unknown And Tom not looking for the drop zone. It's the same thing. It's it's you may not know the course, but there are ways to find out what you need to know. Even if you need to take the car and drive up and see what's up there. But yeah, that that water hazard, I hit into it. Not I did not know that was there. 00:27:29:11 - 00:27:46:02 Unknown I thought I had a good shot and then it was kind of funny because on the next hole coming back. So the first one didn't have any reeds, so we couldn't see the water. It was all cut down or there weren't any. And so it rolled over the edge one into the water, but the next one we turned the corner. 00:27:46:02 - 00:28:16:15 Unknown We get on the tee box and everybody goes, that's water. We all wanted to make sure we didn't make that. That one had all the cattails up there. Yeah, we were like, don't make that mistake again. So yeah, it's just an educational moment of saying, really pay attention to what is in front of you. As far as what can you find out using an app or using the the scorecard, or looking at the sign to say, hey, there's a water hazard up there, don't rush, don't like, take shots without really thinking about what you always say. 00:28:16:22 - 00:28:36:03 Unknown Where do you want your mess to be? I did not want my miss to be at the bottom of a gully of water. So, you know, you got to pay attention to stuff like that. And not everything's common knowledge. Sometimes local knowledge helps a lot. If if, you know, you happen to be in a group with somebody that has golfed the whole before, just listen up. 00:28:36:03 - 00:28:55:08 Unknown Sometimes they're going to say, oh, this is that, you know, blind shot that you can't see the water around the corner or whatever. I don't believe by by USGA standards, when you're in tournament play, I don't believe you can ask for is there water there or not? Not positive. It might be considered common knowledge, like reading a number off. 00:28:55:10 - 00:29:12:12 Unknown Rangefinder is considered common knowledge. You're allowed to give that information to somebody or ask for that information as if somebody has won and you don't. So it might be considered common knowledge, but I'm not positive we can look that up and we'll we'll get back to people on that at a later time. They also have a great bar and snack area there. 00:29:12:18 - 00:29:41:08 Unknown They have a big outdoor pavilion, which is, I'm sure, where they host their scramble events and stuff like that. It's a it had a whole like inner setup with grills and a bar, and then the whole outside is all tables. So they clearly host very good, very big scrambles. So yeah, if you ever have a chance to get into the area of freehold, New York, we highly recommend that you check out Thunder Heart and we had a great tour stop there and we look forward to playing there again at some point. 00:29:41:14 - 00:30:04:15 Unknown About an hour south of our state capital will be a couple hours north of, the New York City folks, beautiful facility to play out to. Give it a try, folks. Absolutely. So same situation, kind of with the scramble we were talking about earlier, I got a text message from my friend Ryan, and he is like, hey, I got a foursome for a scramble event. 00:30:04:15 - 00:30:24:04 Unknown It's coming up on Wednesday, and I had somebody drop out. Are you interested? First question I asked him is where? And then I'm like, who am I kidding? I wrote back to him right away. I said, no, no, no, let's cancel that. The answer is yes. Just tell me where I need to be and what time. Because like we always talk about, if it's golf, we're going to say yes. 00:30:24:04 - 00:30:47:21 Unknown If it's free golf, we're definitely going to say yes. And so I had the opportunity to play with Ryan and two coworkers from the Adirondack Trust Company and am sure and play at the ALS open, which was at the van Patten Golf Course in Clifton Park, I believe it is in Clifton Park. It's a beautiful 27 hole course. 00:30:47:23 - 00:31:14:24 Unknown We had an absolute stellar day. We went six under, which was pretty good because now none of us are great golfers. We had eight birdies and we had two bogeys unfortunately. But you know how I told you my, I, my driver was ice cold? Apparently it bought a sweater because it was on fire that day. I hit for at least four birdie putt that were over 10 to 15ft. 00:31:14:27 - 00:31:36:08 Unknown I had a 50 footer that I put in that was absolutely insane, but I also saved a couple of pars with putts off the green or putts that were like ten, 15ft. I have never seen my putter be that hot, and I was so happy because nothing else was. I felt like the front of my game was not great. 00:31:36:08 - 00:31:58:18 Unknown My driver was not helping me at all. My hybrids. I was having a lot of trouble with. But man, my short game and that putting was huge. And like you always talk about scrambles. That's what makes the difference. And I think that's what got us to six under is because not only was my short game working, but some of the other guys had some great chips and great putts, and that's what kept us in the game. 00:31:58:21 - 00:32:13:23 Unknown So that's what's kept all the trophies in the cabinet at home. If I had a cabinet, it's been my short game. Like I said, I've been hitting with a four iron off the tee box. I'm certainly not out driving anybody. But the short game, folks, that's where it's all at. And the PGA tour professionals will. I'll tell you that, too. 00:32:13:25 - 00:32:30:20 Unknown They can hit it a country mile, but they all can hit it. A country mile. But the guys, they can get it tight, and save pars. Guys can get it tight knocking you know birdie putts you know make the birdie putts more readily available because they're hitting eight foot birdies versus 18 footers. Makes makes a huge difference. 00:32:30:22 - 00:33:02:27 Unknown So this tournament was really interesting because I know about ALS but I I've I personally I haven't had the experience of dealing with somebody with it. But the stories that we got to hear before we teed off were really moving. And really interesting to hear how families have had to deal with this disease. And Saint Peter's Hospital, it was one of the biggest sponsors and actually is one of the biggest beneficiary beneficiaries of this tournament as well because of their ALS, department in their hospital. 00:33:02:29 - 00:33:23:18 Unknown One of the sons of somebody who had passed away several years ago, who has been coming to the tournament since he was 13, he's now 23, gave a really moving speech about the fact that he is now going into the medical field to continue research and to try to find a cure for this, because his father passed away. 00:33:23:18 - 00:33:40:14 Unknown When I think he was 12, I think he was 10 or 12 or something like that. So really interesting to hear those moving stories. They took care of us. They gave us a bottle of wine. It gave us this really cool hat that I'm wearing right now. And we had lunch on the turn, and then we had a fantastic buffet at the end. 00:33:40:22 - 00:33:58:18 Unknown And the giveaways that they were doing, auctioning off were amazing. So it was a beautiful event. It was busy. There are a lot of people there, but they've got the space for it at van Pat and be in 27 holes. They also had cannon. Remember I told you about the cannon at the conference center? They had one there and we used it and we hit the green. 00:33:58:21 - 00:34:14:14 Unknown So we had a good shot today or that day and and I joked with the guys, same thing I said on a podcast. Can I have this thing like on the golf cart for every par five? It would really make my life a lot easier. So great day. We had beautiful weather and I'm glad I got a chance to do that. 00:34:14:20 - 00:34:32:26 Unknown I love playing golf with my friend Ryan, and I'm glad I could step in and do that. And it's it's great to have those friends that reach out and say, hey, we need somebody to fill in, because again, another round of golf, another free round of golf is a good time no matter what happens now. I just, on a sidebar, I was just curious. 00:34:33:02 - 00:34:59:08 Unknown ALS is also known, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, is Lou Gehrig's disease correct? It's. I think it's more commonly for most people. They hear that they automatically know what it is. Lou Gehrig being, you know, a national hero for a long time. But I got to see it firsthand. How debilitating, it makes somebody go from extremely active and healthy to, you know, completely incapacitated because it essentially eats away at your muscle system, from what I understand. 00:34:59:11 - 00:35:12:08 Unknown I had a friend of the family that we used to go fishing down to his dock all the time, and the last time I spoke to him, was about a year after he was diagnosed. He was in his 70s, but again, very active, very healthy. You come down fishing with us all the time and stuff. 00:35:12:08 - 00:35:38:15 Unknown And, the last time I went there, my boat had floated away because of some flood waters that came through the 100 year floods. We called it in our area. And, I went into his house to ask him if he knew what happened to my boat. And, he said, well, I certainly didn't steal it, because at that point he was completely, chair, you know, chair bound, wheelchair bound, and, he, you know, obviously he couldn't get out and do it, but I got the that was the first time I had seen him since the previous fall. 00:35:38:20 - 00:35:55:14 Unknown This was a spring time fishing day that I was going out. And so I hadn't seen him in six months. And in six months, I got to see what als just how debilitating and, how it can incapacitate somebody in just such a short period of time, how far down that hill they can go. But that he kept the spirits up, which was good. 00:35:55:14 - 00:36:25:11 Unknown And I, you know, I hope they find a cure for it because it is awful, nasty disease. It is, it is. I I'll put some links in the description to this tour or this sorry, the scramble specifically if you're in the local area and you're interested in doing it next year, I'm sure they always have openings. I'll also put a link to the ALS Department, I guess at Saint Peter's Hospital, just if you're curious to learn more about it, or if you're looking to maybe possibly help them, it would be amazing. 00:36:25:11 - 00:36:36:02 Unknown It was really moving to listen to those stories before we teed off. And then we had a wonderful day, and it was great to see how much money they're raising to try to find this cure. 00:36:36:05 - 00:36:45:13 Unknown see, say on a side as a side mentioned that, I think everybody that golfs even casually, should look into doing some scrambles. 00:36:45:13 - 00:37:07:08 Unknown A it takes a lot of the pressure off you because there's three other golfers out there with you be it is so easy to find a scramble that suits your personal, charitable feelings. Yeah. If you wanted to do something for the Diabetes Foundation, the American Heart Association of the Cancer Society, or it could be a very just a local club, you know, youth little league baseball or something like that. 00:37:07:14 - 00:37:28:01 Unknown There's a million of them out there in our Capital Region area, but they're, I know nationally and probably globally as well. There's loads and loads and loads of scrambles. So the most important thing is you're giving back while doing something you enjoy. Some people say, oh geez, 125 or 150 is a lot to pay for a day of golf, when normally that course only costs 75. 00:37:28:07 - 00:37:48:02 Unknown Well, usually you're getting a meal or two out of it. A lot of times they do free giveaways. They, you know, they'll have beer kegs on the course and whatever else. But the more important part is a large chunk. These, these golf courses are being generous enough to let the golfers out at a reduced rate, actually. So the bulk of those proceeds from a tournament like that are going directly to these causes. 00:37:48:06 - 00:38:05:22 Unknown So they might get 50 or $60 a golfer towards that charity and that charity, if they don't, you know, if that's their biggest fundraiser, which a lot of them it is, you know, they can they can pull in a nice little haul for a day and which is sorely needed for a lot of these charitable organizations. Yeah, I totally agree. 00:38:05:25 - 00:38:25:07 Unknown Look, in your area, if you do play golf on a regular basis, look on the attack board at your local golf course. A lot of people put fliers up and and ask the pros at that shop, because they'll probably have a list that they can share with you to help you, whether it's at their course or ones that they know about in the area. 00:38:25:07 - 00:38:47:00 Unknown And you're right, there's every type of charity available to to help out with these golf tournaments. And as someone who works with a nonprofit to put on their golf tournament, it takes a bit of work, it takes a good bit of work. And so they need the community support. And I know we enjoy doing it. And like you said, it takes the pressure off. 00:38:47:02 - 00:39:09:28 Unknown So really do consider that if you're looking to have a good time playing golf, but want it to really mean something as well, so you know what time it is. Rule the day. Rule the day. What do you got? I just want to talk a little bit about when a shot or a miss is considered a stroke. I you you'll hear people say this all the time. 00:39:10:03 - 00:39:27:10 Unknown One of the times that it's most inconsistently administered people don't understand. The rule is on the tee box. You set your ball on the tee, and you set your club next to it, and you accidentally tap the ball off the tee, right? You'll hear your buddies yell, one! That is not the time to, you know, sumo kick them or whatever. 00:39:27:10 - 00:40:00:11 Unknown Judo kick them. It is it is not the time to do that. Instead, you can just turn around and say, no, not by rule. It isn't. By rule, you have to take a dedicated swing when it's on it or on the tee box, before it's considered a stroke. On the putting green, the same is applied if you go to set your putter next to the ball and you accidentally tap the ball forward, you replace the ball back to its original location as best you can tell, which is typically going to be right in front of where you set the putter down, and that you go back to resuming golf the way 00:40:00:11 - 00:40:22:07 Unknown you normally would with no penalty strokes. That little tap of the ball did not count for anything because you didn't take a dedicated swing. However, there are some times that also get confusing on the other end of the spectrum, which is you hit a ball underneath some trees and you got your vision impaired by, you know, you can't even look down and see the ball very well because you have a bunch of branches sticking in front of your face. 00:40:22:10 - 00:40:47:18 Unknown Now, I'm sure people of most people that are when they started golf have done this a time or two. And sometimes it happens out in the middle of the fairway, believe it or not. But if at that point you address the ball, once you've addressed the ball, you're considered an active player. So at that point when you take a swing, a committed swing, even if you miss and you completely whiff the ball, you hit way behind it, way in front of it or whatever, and and you completely miss the ball. 00:40:47:23 - 00:41:04:18 Unknown That's considered a stroke in golf. Just think of it that way. You took a full stroke. You took a full swing at it. That counts as a stroke. So a lot of people get those three scenarios kind of mixed up in their head when it counts, when it doesn't. I just wanted to give a little heads up to those people. 00:41:04:21 - 00:41:25:22 Unknown When you're playing with your buddies, if you know, you can make up your own rules as you go along. But hey, if you're playing for five bucks a hole or whatever and you want to make some extra cash on them, tell your buddy and all that one counts. You took a swing at it. So, just to clarify, for somebody who may not be a normal golfer who is new to golf, what do you mean by addressing the ball? 00:41:25:24 - 00:41:44:00 Unknown Addressing the ball is essentially when you take your stance, intending to swing so you can back away from the ball and take a full swing as long as there was no intent on. And this is part of the golf being an honors, you know, an honorable game and you call your own penalties and so on and so forth. 00:41:44:02 - 00:42:00:26 Unknown You'll see pros do it all the time. They'll back away slightly from the ball, and they'll take a full swing through some heavy rough just to see how much is it going to grab the club and open the face of the club, or wrap up in the club face or whatever. The only time you can't do that, obviously, is in a sand bunker. 00:42:00:26 - 00:42:28:21 Unknown You can't ground your club in a sand bunker. But as soon as you address the ball, which means you're essentially you're close enough and you're intending to swing at the ball, if at that point you swing in, this stroke counted either way. Yeah, yeah. I think the the one that I learned recently that I didn't know is if you deal with the ball or say you're in some heavy rough or you're impeded by some leaves or something, and you take that full swing that counts, even if you miss the ball completely. 00:42:28:21 - 00:42:51:20 Unknown Yeah. And a lot of people don't play that way, especially amateurs, because they're, they're amateurs. But on tour, that's going to count for us for sure. And you got to hold people accountable for that. And that's why it's important that we talk about these rules. Yeah. If your vision is impeded, I you know, I for me, the best thing I would suggest because I've actually never had that happen to me in a tour stop. 00:42:51:23 - 00:43:05:20 Unknown But you know, so I've never had to actually count a stroke on tour because of a completely missed ball. But I have had it happen in like, you know, golfing with you or golfing with other friends out on the golf course. And I didn't know back then that you had to count that as a stroke, but it has happened. 00:43:05:26 - 00:43:21:14 Unknown The best thing you can do when you're in a situation like that, it's typically, like I said, tree branches is where it happens most often. They're hanging in front of your face when the ball is below it. You can't necessarily see the ball. So you're you're kind of looking off to the side. But then when you straighten up and go to swing, all of a sudden the ball's gone. 00:43:21:14 - 00:43:40:01 Unknown You can't see it. The best thing to do is find a way in which you can see the ball or or else really dramatically shorten your back swing and just punch out. Take good club face contact. Don't worry about the distance. Don't be a hero. Get it back out onto the fairway. Take the bogey or double bogey or whatever you get out of the deal with it all. 00:43:40:01 - 00:44:01:28 Unknown I think another smart thing is, if you're in a situation that you're not even sure you can get your club connected to it, take the drop, take the unplayable. I will tell you that I have made many mistakes not doing that, playing the hero shot, trying to do the punch out in a ridiculous situation. And most of the time if I do something like that, it goes a couple feet in front of me. 00:44:02:00 - 00:44:22:15 Unknown What's the difference of making that effort and saying, I'm going to take a drop and taking that one stroke penalty? So think about that when you're in those situations, because sometimes those decisions are where you're going to save that double, triple, quadruple bogey. Yeah I was thinking about it on my way here in about, the unplayable ball situation myself. 00:44:22:17 - 00:44:40:15 Unknown Because I was thinking to myself, I believe and I'm not positive. That's why I want to look up the USGA rules app that I have and see what the ruling is. But with an unplayable ball, I believe, if I'm not mistaken, you can choose to play an unplayable ball because you got to take a one stroke penalty for it at any, anywhere on the golf course you want. 00:44:40:17 - 00:44:55:22 Unknown It can be because you have a big lip on a sand bunker in front of you or whatever. There are some stipulations as far as where the ball can be moved to with your drop and so on and so forth. But I'm I'm pretty positive that you can play it from anywhere on the golf course you want. 00:44:55:24 - 00:45:10:12 Unknown If it's an uncomfortable situation, like being in a tree branch. Yeah, you could hit the ball, but you could also miss it entirely. And then you're going to take a penalty stroke anyways. So I'm going to look up the rule a little bit more in depth on that. But but it is a very interesting rule. Okay. 00:45:10:12 - 00:45:30:15 Unknown So that's our rules a day a lot there. But I think you'll get the gist of what we're trying to cover. So now let's talk about what we got coming up this weekend I can't wait. Oh I know, so fire away. So first thing we have is tomorrow we're playing golf in the morning. So that's obviously important too. 00:45:30:17 - 00:45:54:29 Unknown But beyond that Saturday we are playing West Point Golf course at West Point, New York. We've heard nothing but good things about this course. We have a good friend of ours, Jerry, who plays on the PGA tour, which is the Veterans Tour. He's played there and had a lot of good things to say about it. Don, I'm director for the USA Am tour, has been talking about it and said it's a great course. 00:45:54:29 - 00:46:19:21 Unknown It's really well maintained. A little problem though. It's a tight course. At least that's what we're being told now. That's something we're kind of used to playing at Brookhaven, so maybe that'll work out for us. I'm hoping so. I am looking forward to it. It is. Is it your first regional on this tour stop or on this US amateur? 00:46:19:23 - 00:46:40:12 Unknown Yes. All right. So it's going to be the first regional event that we're going to for the US amateur. So we're going and we have several other people that are part of Albany region that are going to represent our region. And there will be other regions. I believe Westchester is one of them that's coming in. And then there's people coming from Connecticut, Massachusetts and places like that. 00:46:40:20 - 00:47:06:02 Unknown And we've got what, 30 plus signed up at this point? 43 oh, wow. You looked at what I saw was 43 tires. Nice. So it's a pretty full field, you know, not full. I mean, we can the tour I believe can handle up to 80 people without separating the seniors. They can handle up to 80 people. So, you know, 43 to some feels small, but it to an amateur, you have the three, 4 or 5 competitors against you in your group, and it feels like the pressure's on. 00:47:06:09 - 00:47:16:28 Unknown That's the difference in amateurs and pros, I think. Yeah. So we're looking forward to that. We'll be doing that on Saturday. So we'll have that to talk about next week. And then what else are we doing? 00:47:17:00 - 00:47:36:18 Unknown What else are we doing. Oh yeah I remember now it just came to me folks. We're one of the travelers tournament. I'm going to get to see Scottie Scheffler hit it in person finally and hopefully win. Now that'd be awesome to actually go see him get a win after everything he's been through. But yeah, I am. I am so looking forward to that. 00:47:36:18 - 00:47:57:12 Unknown It's funny because I follow it a lot more golf in the last couple of years because of, programs like Full Swing on Netflix, which we'll talk about that at some point. Great program if you want to learn about specific golfers and their personalities and stuff. But I just there's so some of it is my dad used to work for travelers. 00:47:57:15 - 00:48:17:00 Unknown I think that's part of his. I'm excited to go see the Red umbrella, take some pictures with the red umbrella to send to my dad, because I know he'll be excited about that, but more importantly, to take what I've seen on TV for years and have it be live. It's going to be awesome. It's a signature event. It's that means it's a limited field. 00:48:17:02 - 00:48:36:12 Unknown I don't believe this one has a cut. There's only 1 or 2 of the signature events that have a cut. Because I think the field is limited to 75 players plus exemptions or something like, you know, some people get sponsors exemptions to get in and such. But it's, it's a much smaller field than our typical PGA tournament would be. 00:48:36:15 - 00:49:04:07 Unknown But as a result, they don't do cuts, which, you know, depending on who you talk to could be good or bad. But super excited to see it. And we're going on Championship Sunday. Which is even better. A little shout out to my niece, Alyssa, who has, she's been working for travelers for quite a long time now, and, she hooked us up with some tickets, and we are, I'm staying with my other niece, Alicia, out in Connecticut. 00:49:04:07 - 00:49:25:11 Unknown So we're only going to be roughly 25, 30 minutes from the course itself. So we're not going to have to deal with as much traffic. And, we've already been prepped on what to do because a couple of my, niece's husbands have been to the tournament already, and they've told us kind of some of this insider secrets about, you know, the spots to go on the course for the best viewing and where to get the air conditioning and so on and so forth. 00:49:25:11 - 00:49:48:05 Unknown So looking forward to it greatly. Yeah, that's going to be what a great experience that's going to be. I will share something I told you about that I saw. It's a super cute video. Scottie Scheffler and his daughter, I believe, going up to the driving range and his son is like knee high. So she's on her way next to him.scottie 00:49:48:09 - 00:50:05:18 Unknown But the best part is she had her own golf clubs and so got a couple clubs out swinging around. Dad's doing his thing over on the side a little bit, and then it's time to go and and they put the clubs away and that puts the backpack through the clubs on the kid's back and kick goes ball it. 00:50:05:18 - 00:50:25:13 Unknown In a way, it was the cutest thing in the world. If I can find the video, I'll post it in the description. But it just shows what's really important to Scotty. It's it's a reason. Full disclosure I'm not a fan of Tiger Woods, and I am a huge fan of Scottie Scheffler. Their ability for both of them is otherworldly. 00:50:25:15 - 00:50:45:13 Unknown I've never revered athletes, musicians, actors, actresses, anybody like that because they're good at their craft. I respect the fact that they're good at their craft. But who they are inside as a human being is so much more important to me. I never like the way Tiger Woods was kind of aloof and looked down upon some people. 00:50:45:13 - 00:51:02:13 Unknown I my big story I've told you before, he tried to get somebody that click their, you know, hit their shutter on their camera while he was, you know, on the downswing, and he tried to have that person thrown off the course. And I thought that was very disingenuous of any professional athlete. The guy made a mistake. 00:51:02:13 - 00:51:20:08 Unknown Granted, he could have said, hey, could you please not do that while I'm trying to swing? But I think to have him thrown off the course is a bit overboard. Scottie Scheffler, I don't have a bad thing to say about the guy. He's a family man. He's just a good hearted person. It has nothing to do with anything outside of that. 00:51:20:08 - 00:51:36:21 Unknown As to whether or not I like or dislike one versus the other, I like him as a human being. I just think he's an incredible person to represent the sport as a whole. So I shouldn't be starting that chainsaw behind your head right before you saying you know anything about me. I know that's what's incredible about him. 00:51:36:26 - 00:51:56:03 Unknown And I swear to God, a bomb could go off a car bomb, and he would still swing and be fine where the rest of us would all run for cover. So I don't know how he does it, but yeah, I agree with you. Scotty is an amazing human being to watch and obviously his talent and golf is just, like you said, out of this world crazy. 00:51:56:06 - 00:52:11:29 Unknown And I can't wait to see these guys swing and see who else is there. I'm actually going to go home tonight and look up who's playing and where, the how they're playing and where they're going to be in the field. So it'll be interesting to see after we're done with West Point, where everybody's standing to see what groups they're playing with. 00:52:12:01 - 00:52:34:07 Unknown I want to see what a 350 yard drive looks like from the tee box perspective, because for all your buddies who say, oh, I hit that one 300, very few of them have, they just have horrible eyes and they keep telling themselves they can hit it. 300. Yes. I know there's an occasional exception to the rule, but as a rule, nobody hits at 300 at the amateur level, you know, and mid amateur level, you know, low handicappers. 00:52:34:07 - 00:52:51:09 Unknown Yeah. There's some of those guys. Young guys are big, tall, strapping guys. They can put it out there. But 350 is a whole nother stratosphere, folks. I want to see what these pros do from the tee box perspective, just to look like what it looks like coming off off the tee. Well, and I'm going to tell you, I'm going to have to get binoculars. 00:52:51:10 - 00:53:10:08 Unknown We're going to do that because you know me, I can't see anything past 190. So I'm not going to see the other half of that drive. Shout out to my doctor. Yeah. Oh, my eye doctor and my wife's eye doctor too. We both had Lasik surgery done. True story. It was affecting my golf game. That was the only reason I decided to have Lasik surgery. 00:53:10:11 - 00:53:24:18 Unknown I couldn't track my ball outside of 150 yards. And I was the guy that always found our golf balls on the course. I couldn't see the landing. I could see it take off in the direction it was going, but I couldn't see it land and bounce. I went and saw a doctor in South Burlington, Vermont. 00:53:24:21 - 00:53:41:27 Unknown She was phenomenal. She did. The laser eye surgery on me is quick, painless, and recovery was super fast. And here I am today. Now, I can track the ball all the way into the woods. You know, no matter how far I hit in the woods, I can see which tree it hit. And, and where it dropped. 00:53:42:00 - 00:54:08:12 Unknown Yeah. Yep. That's why it's important. So I have a lot to report on next week as we talk about West Point, as we talk about the travelers Championship and other stuff we have coming up. If you have questions for us or have suggestions of courses that we should go play, please put them in the comments because we'd be really, really curious to hear, where are you guys who are playing, what you think of the courses you guys are playing? 00:54:08:15 - 00:54:34:12 Unknown And we also want to do a special shout out to Rob Schrager at Blueprint Leadership Development for sponsoring Divots and Skins. We really appreciate the sponsorship. Also a shout out to Don frame. Of course our awesome director at the Albany Region USA tour. We appreciate you sticking with us as well. And we look forward to helping you grow the Albany region and seeing what we can do with it. 00:54:34:14 - 00:55:03:15 Unknown Also, we want to do a special shout out to Dave here at the Luxury Box, where we have the opportunity to record this podcast, Divots and Skins. In this awesome suite at the Luxury Box. We're currently in suite seven, and this is where we do a lot of our swinging during the winter. And when it's raining during the summer, it's a great way for us to keep our swing, keep our backs in check, make sure we're strong going into the spring season in upstate New York. 00:55:03:15 - 00:55:18:26 Unknown It can get rough when you can't get out on the golf course, so if you're looking for somewhere during the winter, when it's raining, when it's cold out, you're looking for somewhere to get your swing going. Luxury box is the way to go. It's the luxury box dot net. Thanks, Dave. 00:55:18:29 - 00:55:23:14 Unknown So with that, we're going to sign off for the day. We'll talk to you guys next time. 00:55:23:21 - 00:55:25:24 Unknown Never leave a birdie putt short Robert Lee.
