Why "Hands-On" Coaching is Killing Your Business (And How to Fix It) The Truth If you’re a golf pro or a sports coach who spends 8 hours a day on the range, I know exactly how you feel. You’re exhausted, your back hurts, your feet hurt and you’re capped. You can’t make more money because you literally don’t have any more hours to sell. You’ve been told that 'hands-on' is the only way. That if you aren't standing there for 60 minutes, you aren't providing value. But I’m here to tell you that’s a lie that is keeping you broke and burnt out. Today, I’m showing you how to sell your Expertise, not your Presence, and why your clients will actually thank you for it. Addressing the Coaching World Let’s look at a standard 60-minute session. Be honest: How much of that hour is spent with you actually 'teaching'? You spend 10 minutes chatting, 30 minutes watching them hit balls while you say 'good' or 'try again,' and maybe if they’re lucky 10 minutes of pure, high-level correction. The client is paying for the full hour, but they only need those 10 minutes of your 'Expert Eyes.' When you move to an asynchronous model where they send you a video and you send back a surgical, 5-minute analysis you are giving them the 'gold' without the 'filler.' You aren't cutting corners; you’re cutting the waste. "Now, some of you are thinking: 'My clients want me there in person.' And for some, that's true. But think about your best students. They don't want your physical presence; they want your eyes. They want you to spot the one thing they are doing wrong so they can go practice it. When you provide a remote audit, you're giving them that 'Expert Eye' exactly when they need it, without them having to book a slot 3 weeks in advance." The "Digital Audit" This is how a 'Work Smarter' coach operates. This is where you are working smarter. Have your client send you a video of their swing/technique. You open up your phone and analyse it on your app. You send back the how-to fix what is going on in their technique. You can have a library of videos, initially could take a bit of time to set you, but then you can build that as you go. You can send your client the actual videos they need to work on, step by step to improve their technique. It may take you up to 10 minutes in total, but remember they want your eyes on how to fix their technique. You give them the appropriate videos to work on and they check in again with you the following week. The Business Transformation (The Math) Now, let’s talk about the money, because this is The Profitable Sports Coach. If you charge $100 for an hour in person, you're capped at maybe $800 a day before you collapse. But if you charge $200 a month for a 'Remote Performance Membership' where you guarantee two 5-minute video audits a week. You can handle 50 students in just a few hours a week. That’s $10,000 a month in recurring revenue, and you haven't even broken a sweat. That is a business. The other way is just a job. It’s time to work smarter not harder. Remember to lead with intention and coach with clarity and care.
