Episode 71 — John 5:24–30 — From Death to Life Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today.
Today is March 12. Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin. Slow Down You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you. Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, I trust Your words.”
As you exhale, pray: “Open my ears and heart.” Do this three times, then rest in His presence. Read “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. “And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son. And he has given him authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man.Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment. I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.  (John 5:24–30, NLT) Notice What phrase stands out?
Hold that phrase before the Lord. Reread Hear Jesus’ voice in these words—speaking truth, warning, and deep assurance. Meditate Jesus says that those who listen to His message and believe in the Father already have eternal life. It’s not just future; something has already changed—they’ve passed from death into life. He speaks of His voice calling the dead to life—both spiritually now and physically at the resurrection. The Father has life in Himself and has given that life‑giving power to the Son, along with authority to judge. This is both sobering and hopeful. Sobering, because our response to Jesus matters forever. Hopeful, because His desire is to give life, not condemnation, to those who trust Him. Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where do I need to rest more deeply in the truth that, in Christ, I have already passed from death into life? Respond Jesus, thank You that when I listen to Your message and trust the Father, I am no longer under condemnation.
Help me live today as someone who has already passed from death into life.
Let Your life‑giving power touch the parts of me that still feel numb or afraid. Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Be Fully Present
Today, choose one conversation where you will be fully present—no phone, no multitasking, no rushing.
As you listen, silently pray: “Jesus, You give life with Your words. Help me reflect Your life by the way I listen.” That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
