Episode 41 — John 4:36–42 — Sowers and Reapers Together Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and I’m so happy to be here with you today. Today is February 10.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin. Slow Down Jesus is here.
He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him. You have a million things on your mind that need your attention, but right now it’s time to be with Jesus. Set those things aside, relax, and calm your body. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Lord, send me”
As you exhale, pray: “Into your harvest.” Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!
You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And it’s true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.”
Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!”
When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear his message and believe.
Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.”
(John 4:36–42, NLT) Notice What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment. Reread Hear the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.   Meditate Jesus reminds us that in God’s kingdom, some plant while others harvest — and both roles are essential. The Samaritan woman planted seeds with her testimony, and Jesus harvested as people came to believe. Joy is found in working together toward the same eternal goal. We may never see the full impact of our planting, but God promises it matters. Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Am I willing to joyfully serve in whatever role God assigns me — planting or harvesting? Respond Lord, make me faithful in whatever role You give me today. Exercise The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits. Habit: Fully Present Be fully present in one conversation today. Put away distractions, make eye contact, and listen deeply. Ask thoughtful questions. Before you part ways, silently pray for that person, asking God to use the interaction for His kingdom. Hey friends, if you’ve been encouraged by the 2 Minute Disciple Podcast, I’d love to invite you to partner with me in keeping these daily devotionals going. Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
