00:00.00 sidekqpodcast Hello everyone and welcome to another exciting episode of sidekicks and se quests the best unofficial dungeons and Dragons podcast am I humbly biased opinion I've got a wonderful amazing guest for you this week but before we get to my guest I have to leave you in suspense. With the ad read which is where I would insert it here and I'll worry about in post-production all right? well without further ado I turn the microphone over to my guest and I ask Hello who is it that you are and what is it that you do. 00:34.30 KP Hello everybody. My name is Kp I go by kpeleven studios on all the socials I Run K P Eleven studios I am a photographer voice actor culture consultant performer and writer I do the best I can and all of those things and. Hopefully it's good enough in each of them. 00:55.73 sidekqpodcast Yeah, and if I'm not mistaken. Ah, you had a really fantastic like Gilmore Cosplay like you got your start kind of like in the critter fandom is that right? That's how ah. Most of us in the community kind of know you from your origin story. 01:13.70 KP I would yeah I would say like that was kind of the um I mean I was a photographer well before then I've been doing it for 12 years now. But the one that kind of blew up and kind of put my name on the on the map was critical role. It's. Including as ah as a cos playerer doing Sean Gilmarre from from the first campaign as well as doing just photo shoots with other fantastic hos players doing various characters from the show. Um I think though those all kind of hit it off and people started noticing and it's. Been a wild ride since. 01:48.61 sidekqpodcast Yes, and I am always one to plug. Ah my good buddy Andrew St strather and his podcast role for persuasion did a fantastic interview with you. So I know you were able to do like a a way more in-depth like your. 01:54.88 KP Ah. 02:02.98 sidekqpodcast You know if I recall from the episode myself. It was like oh you had like navy experience and you were doing all this back and forth and then you're like Bam you're right here in the middle of ah the d and d sphere ah doing what you do. 02:17.43 KP Yep, exactly it ah started out in the Navy straight out of high school got out did a bunch of jobs since I As a you know software engineer database Administrator system admin a lot of just you know your typical tech jobs and then laugh and then. Along the way picked up photography fell in love with it. Picked up all my other things as I started doing each one a little bit at a time and like Ohh I like this ooh I like voice acting ooh I like performing on actual plays or and just being a performer in general and it's just ah, it's it's.. It's the fun thing about life. You just don't know where things are going to go. You won't know what you actually are into until you try it and then when you do you don't want to let go. 03:00.59 sidekqpodcast Yeah, and ah I've been you know watching your social Medias. You've got like a whole you've been doing a lot even so far, you're like going to cons and you're like doing you know you mentioned actual Plays. You know that's something that you're doing more is there anything that. At the time of this recording that you can tease out ah that we should be looking forward to or do we just need to. We just need to be glued to your socials. So then we can know when those projects drop. 03:18.86 KP Um, um. 03:25.39 KP Ah, oh man, um I mean I I don't mind at all giving a little bit of a teaser actually a couple of them are are either ah probably already dropped or about to drop as of right now. Um, so already one that's an ongoing one is called legacy of worlds on six sides of gaming. It is a show that takes luminaries from the d and d community that we know people who have helped shape it from from the early on stages. You have folks like Ed Greenwood who is one the original creators of the forgotten realms you have Luke Geigax son of Gary Geigax um 04:05.16 KP Ah, Elisa Teague who's a fantastic writer and has contributed to so many world building and then Keith ah Keith Baker who is the creator of eberon. So all these luminaries and the the entire premises. Well what happens if like major characters from each of these worlds somehow met. 04:13.56 sidekqpodcast M. 04:23.36 KP And now our team like it's a big old Avenger style team up and now they're going out there trying to fight off some world ending up. You know, actually multiverse planar planescape ending ah ah, threat right. 04:36.48 sidekqpodcast Right. 04:38.48 KP And in that process I was lucky enough to be the photographer marketing one of the marketing folks on it as well as a player on it a guest player for several of the episodes. So I'm very excited about that that was a lot of fun. And then again with 6 sides of gaming. We did a shadow run game. They'll be airing on April Twenty second ah and it's a lot of fun I really really and it was my first time playing properly playing a shadow run game and especially an entire campaign and if you love. 04:59.69 sidekqpodcast Mm. 05:11.10 KP Cyberpunk if you love shadow Run That's a great game. It's one of my favorites simply because I love the character I Played. He's a big old goofball and nothing like any of the other characters I've ever played in my life. So I had a blast being him So if nothing else do check that out to just. See me laughing my ass off a lot and then finally we have one that's not been announced yet. Ah, but you can follow it the it's on all platforms its role for in initiativeiative it is a charity game a charity campaign that we started. Um, and it will be for the doctors without borders and I must say that production is one that you you should not Miss.. It's probably the most ambitious show I've been a part of the set design. The amount of talent that went into making it. 05:56.53 sidekqpodcast Moon. 06:07.86 KP I will say unless something changes in the meantime I think there's going to be a lot of firsts in this industry that you will see on that show. 06:14.94 sidekqpodcast Very exciting to hear. Yeah and I think that's a perfect segue then for the next question here that we do at the top in the personal interview section which you've already alluded to but do currently or have you ever played dungeons and dragons before. 06:28.20 KP I have although funny enough I'm comparatively new to the to the to the to the space to the industry to the then you know the the hobby I started end of 2018 so I guess wow. It's actually been. Be end of this year it will be 6 years which I guess I can't really say anymore is new in my head. It feels like it's just still comparatively. Let's not you know other people have been in it for like 1015 years since their childhood I didn't get into it until in my late 20 s um. And I've it's just been a blast I'm glad I did it I I regret not doing it sooner. 07:07.72 sidekqpodcast Mm yeah, yeah for me. Ah, my start was Halloween night ah twenty ten and my my west Texas college town. So I know yeah I just came up on the thirteenth anniversary just this past October so yeah with four e. 07:12.39 KP God. 07:24.21 sidekqpodcast I started in the four E days before making the switch. So. 07:26.13 KP Ah I've only ever played 5 v I kind of want to play this some of the earlier editions just to try it out I feel like I'm missing out a little bit if I don't. 07:33.95 sidekqpodcast Yeah, no plenty of good games out there and lots of lessons to learn for sure from them. You know it's kind of like a archeological sort of thing where you can be like playing four E and B like oh I understand so this is like how it how it factored into five E but this is like in its original Proto state as it were or whatever. 07:43.54 KP Um, anything. 07:48.83 KP Um, yeah, absolutely yeah I know a lot of people vouch for three third edition a lot too. So. 07:53.95 sidekqpodcast So. 07:59.76 sidekqpodcast Yeah, yeah, like I said I don't have any experience with any of the earliest editions. Ah, but yeah, a little bit of path findder. Um, and then yeah, then like four e five v and I'm I'm happy I know I we ah time time. Ah I'll figure out a way to cut that. Very time appropriate at the time of this episode recording the fallout show just came out on Amazon prime and my wife and I finished binging that I'm a huge fan of the franchise. Love the show and I know obviously mudius put out the fallout rpg so I would love I know April hill. 08:21.64 KP 1 more. 08:33.63 KP Um, even. 08:37.33 sidekqpodcast The community manager from odifus is also in our likewise ah dfw area. So it would be amazing. Yes, she is and it would. She's always looking to put games together up here in the north of Texas and so. 08:41.74 KP Um, really ah may. 08:50.98 sidekqpodcast Maybe it's something we can work out. We can finally get our chance to play the fallout role playing game or something like that that'd be very cool. 08:54.83 KP Now be the out bad the amazing. Yeah, they yeah I love the fallout universe I know personally the I know one of my friends. The dot. Goes by little red dot was one of the contributors I think she did almost like 10000 words for that. Ah rpg so I'm very I'm very re play it. it's it's it's a and knowing her talent I know for a fact that it will be ah fantastic. So. 09:14.50 sidekqpodcast Wow. 09:24.32 sidekqpodcast Well there we go speaking of characters. You know this? this podcast is called sidekicks and side quest so we like to ask the question here who happens to be your favorite Npc or sidekick character whether they be from you know an rpg. Ah, video game movie, film, television, etc. And why is this character your favorite npc your favorite sidekick. 09:50.30 KP I Mean that's such a great question and it's one of the ones I've been thinking about it's so hard to figure Out. Um I don't know. It's always fun to think about. Okay, do you pick a favorite based off of how useful they are. Do you pick one on how memorable they are. But is the case right? Um I would say my favorite psychic simply because I think he's hilarious and it's such a troll move would probably be the fan from ah from ah elder scrolls oblivion the guy that buy a zo. 10:25.39 sidekqpodcast Mm. 10:26.63 KP By Azorra by Azorra like ah I mean I'm probably butchering the line but like the azura I think by Aura not Azora far of elder scrolls people if you're a fan Please don't go after me I'm doing my best but I just think he's hilarious I think it's such a. 10:40.49 sidekqpodcast No. 10:46.62 KP Funny little thing where it's completely inconsequential. He doesn't really do anything else except follow you around and kind of annoy you a little bit but ah, but having such a character is fun I think in terms of most memorable or most impactful character for me though would probably be ah I want to say. 10:54.48 sidekqpodcast Mm. 11:06.22 KP Shoot I'm blanking his names all of a sudden eighty h d just was like ha dump it dump it all. Um, the so ah the um, ah Morden Morden from mass effect I did hold. 11:21.19 sidekqpodcast Oh yes, yes, Mordon the ah the solarian. 11:24.43 KP Yeah, the c soarian that's what I thought. Okay, oh man, my my brain also is a little bit mixing up terms from ah the 3 body problem that I just watched the tv show 3 broad and problem they have triscellarianians in there and so my brain was like it can't be sollar. He's not a soarian cause that's Triscearian and that's from this anyways. Sorry I ra but I just loved his arc. Um, and as you get to know him better I think it's it's just such a impactful moment on how his story goes especially all the way through mass effect 3 um, but I think games like mass effect 3 where you invest. 11:56.75 sidekqpodcast Um. 12:03.11 KP Into your team and take the time to learn more about them really helps in connecting with them and so those sort of characters tend to be the ones anyways that I enjoy a lot but I think more than from mass v 3 mass effect here is is probably 1 my favorite too. 12:19.70 sidekqpodcast Indeed a very solid pick. Um, and then we examine the other side of the coin. What happens to be your favorite side Quest or favorite B Plot element again. Whether it's rpg. It's movie film television stage production. 12:21.36 KP Yeah, ah. 12:32.55 KP Yeah. 12:36.53 sidekqpodcast I know here being in you know dfw nor Texas um I was checking it out I just I'm just sharing this tangent because I was like oh the grandscape over in the colony. You know they've got a really cool. Awesome movie theater I've never been to and I pulled up and it was so many movies in like telegu. 12:43.50 KP Are. 12:53.60 KP What will. 12:56.21 sidekqpodcast And like all these other Dey languages I was like I don't be like this probably sounds like a cool movie theater that ah Kp would love to go to I would need his help I mean I would have to read the subtitles the whole time if if it's a subbed or if it's dubbed then I'm just going to be for the ride. 13:02.91 KP I was La back. Oh drop believe. 13:14.29 sidekqpodcast Or you know whatever it is. But yeah anyway, what's your favorite B Plot element or side Quest and why? yeah. 13:14.59 KP Um, yeah, okay, um, I've been racking my brain around this and then I thank you for opening it up because I think I thought that would make it more difficult. But I think actually that made it easier because it's. Such a unique experience. Um, any of the um crap they just opened ah 1 of them here. Um mom ma mama ma ma ah the really trippy museum out out in grape vine Meoww Wolf thank you yes Yes, 13:43.63 sidekqpodcast Me out wolf. Yes, my wife and my nieces and my mother in law went to that and they were like it's a thing and it's very fun was like I'll take your word for it. Yeah. 13:49.70 KP Um. 13:53.20 KP It you know I have not gone to the one here in grapevine I've been to the one in Denver I believe each one is a unique setting and experience like so like it's it's not like if you go to 1 you've been to all each 1 is on its own as unique and trippy as it is. But when I went in Denver for it's one of those things you go in the morning and you don't get out until end of the night if you want to do like 100% completion of it and there's so many interesting side quests. Interesting little things you can find I could you could. 14:12.98 sidekqpodcast Mm. 14:23.89 sidekqpodcast Um. 14:31.12 KP I don't want to spoil anything but if and ever you guys have ah an opportunity to go to 1 of the mioww exhibits I think there's one in Denver one here in grapevine one in Las Vegas and I want to say a fourth one somewhere I want to say like close to l a no, maybe not a I know there's 4 14:48.50 sidekqpodcast There's one that'll be opening up in Houston I'm told so our buddy Andrew strather maybe be able to go check that one out or we'll I'll get dragged down to Houston and we'll we'll go check it out. 14:55.30 KP Yeah, that would be amazing. Um, maybe we could do a whole trip about it. But yeah think I think that that one has probably been one of the most coolest experiences in my life Obviously and I'm just. 15:02.90 sidekqpodcast Yeah. 15:11.33 KP Big sucker or for world buildingilding and storytelling of any sort, especially when that becomes a tangible thing so things like that or larp I've been to only 1 larp but I it was such an impactful experience. It's called twin peak out in ah in the la area. So just. 15:15.58 sidekqpodcast Um. 15:30.31 KP Those scenarios where you kind of meander around and you don't have to follow a linear storyline. You don't have it doesn't It's not railroading you anywhere and then as you wander you start picking up things you and then before you know you're like how the hell did I get here like where what what happened and. 15:40.46 sidekqpodcast Um. 15:49.15 KP Ah, wonder of it I think is is is something that I enjoy so moments like that any of anything like that. It's also kind of why I Really love openw worldl rpgs or rpgs that allow you impactful choices that matter that then take you on a journey depending on which choices you make hence why? ah. I Love Mass effect or any of those type of series and things like that. So. 16:11.25 sidekqpodcast Well I have to ask? ah since I brought it up but have you finished or watched all the fallout episodes. Yeah. 16:15.67 KP I have not I've just finished episode 2 today. So I'm taking it slow I've on top of trying to juggle everything I also wanted to kind of have that old school experience of you know, digest having a time to digest each episode. 16:20.25 sidekqpodcast Ok. 16:32.62 sidekqpodcast Mm. 16:33.92 KP Giving it time to really sink in before jumping into the next one um I 16:37.58 sidekqpodcast I see then I don't think that this line that I want to quote from one of the episodes I don't think it happens in episode 2 It must be like 3 or 4 but suffice it to say that. Ah you know we you know the the show follows Lucy. 16:49.26 KP It's funny. 16:52.87 KP Yeah. 16:54.58 sidekqpodcast Our vault dweller hero and then we already know that Walter Goggins plays a character called the gul. Um, and so they basically at 1 point ah express different viewpoints. You know when she she has the optimistic like oh the golden rule kind of a thing and then he says ah. 17:01.25 KP Um. 17:07.17 KP Um I will. 17:09.41 KP Yeah, exactly. 17:13.58 sidekqpodcast The Golden rule of the wasteland and basically the the way the quote means ah is like ah kind of a ton and tongue and cheek nod like you were saying about side quest like in mass effect Fallout franchise is the perfect example of like basically the golden rule. The wasteland is like. 17:27.36 KP Life. 17:32.29 sidekqpodcast You're going to get dragged off on all these side quests whether you like it or not like the world is just going to happen and you're going to get diverted like oh I have this mission I have to do It's like you know and unless you're focused on that The waistline is obviously gonna pull you in a different direction and you're gonna get. 17:36.57 KP Um, my high example. 17:47.33 KP Exactly. 17:49.46 sidekqpodcast Wound up in something else. Kind of a thing so you have something to look forward to you'll know like ah that's the line. He was referencing but ah yeah I know I wholeheartedly agree about the side quest and getting lost in the world is it's what makes the world the world. Yeah. 18:03.56 KP Exactly. 18:08.11 sidekqpodcast And then the final question that we ask in the personal interview section. What are you passionate about and why. 18:17.79 KP Man that's such a tough question I mean I think the obvious answer is probably photography. It's what got me into all of this It's what is my ah passion my joy. It's my first creative venture outside of anything else. Um. It's also my longest running creative venture. So it just I think is the basis for everything and then through photography it has given me the immense immense pleasure of connecting with so many folks across so many different fields. Learning more about them learning more about what they do and then through that finding new passions new things that I'm interested in I mean as we talked about before photography is the reason I got into you know, dungeons and dragons. It's why I got into a lot of these other fantasy and and and geeky hobbies. Um, so if if I didn't have that I don't think I would have gotten I mean I but I'm not gonna say I'm not I'm never gonna say I don't think I would be here I think the route would have been a lot more different and also maybe have taken a lot longer if at all. So I think my greatest passion is that is photography. But I think ultimately. Above that it probably is just any form of storytelling I love telling stories I love facilitating them for other people and I think that is what photography surfs for me is is that it it helps fill that hole of storytelling so that when I get to meet clients. 19:48.13 KP Meet people that I do photo shoots with I'm telling their story I'm working with them to help identify how they want to be presented who they are on on film and I think that that is very endearing to me and it's something that taps into for for me. So yeah. 20:06.43 sidekqpodcast Yeah that's really cool I'm just I'm just being reminded of all the the various creative and artistic expressions that you've endeavored you know say what you will about ah the ex Twitter platform. But I think I remember you having a very viral like chai. Thread that you did way back when that everyone loved you for and what I also found fascinating. Um, ah you shared about ah you know indian mythology hindu culture about the story of the giant well in d and d turns we'd say like a rock. 20:24.35 KP Um, yeah. 20:36.61 KP Um, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. 20:38.41 sidekqpodcast But it's the statue of the giant Eagle that's like overturned on the ground and you did like this whole breakdown of like explaining like well this is what it is through. Ah you know through the story and the myth and in the legend and all this and so I was like ah that's like that's really cool and fascinating even your episode that you did with the kill every monster podcast where you. Ah, you, you educated everyone on the proper way to pronounce it rukshisa and then explained you know how those all factor into into the culture culture and the myths and what have you. 21:01.47 KP Is it. 21:10.63 KP Yeah, thank you? Oh my gosh you you really looked into everything. Ah. 21:13.39 sidekqpodcast I Just consume a lot of media. 21:17.40 KP Ah, thank you I mean yeah I mean yeah I just I think the other reason I love um, getting becoming a creative especially through ttrpg actual plays and stuff like that. It really helped me reconnect with a lot of my own culture and. Once again, it taps into a form of storytelling that I had kind of been ignoring for most of my life being an immigrant and an immigrant I moved here when I was eight years old and growing up in America in America especially in Portland where I think I had in my entire school of a total of maybe 6 or 7 other indians there and so not a lot of opportunities to connect with my culture and when you're in that kind of a scenario especially when other people don't understand your culture or have certain stereotypes or bigoted views. It kind of makes you want to eschew it and not really want to be associated with it because you're like I don't want to be othered so most of my life I kind of set it aside and be like no I'm american I'm I'm western I don't want to talk about it. It's not me sort of a thing. 22:15.99 sidekqpodcast Um. 22:24.10 sidekqpodcast M. 22:27.19 KP And so I'm glad that I'm able to go through this journey and then reconnect back to it and use this as an opportunity as not only educating other people about it but educating myself because I'm reconnecting with all of this because I'm like oh by as they say by teaching is the best way to learn yourself. Ah. 22:44.59 sidekqpodcast Um. 22:45.20 KP And that respared that joy in me in wanting to connect with my culture. So it's one of the reasons why I think you know storytelling and more specifically in this scenario ttrpgs have been so important to me. 22:57.81 sidekqpodcast There we go I mean we could. We could spend all day just in the personal interview section just getting to know each other you could watch our friendship blossom but you know we have talked 1 time before again our on our aforementioned Andrew Strother's anniversary stream where. 23:06.22 KP Up. 23:16.22 sidekqpodcast If I recall Ed Greenwood you and I all talking about rubbing ah bananas in our hairs to make the follicles grow better ah and stuff like that and ah yeah, we just had a great time on that. But now you know hopefully hopefully that ah, that's being rekindled here. Ah but not forcing anything obviously. Um, and without further much and without further ado I think it's time we head into some npc creation. 23:50.93 sidekqpodcast And npc creation is brought to you by you the podcast audience and our patrons from patreon so now is the time of the show where we give a loudud hurrah allowed huah to our Patreon supporters. So I like to raise a toast a glass. Ah, ah. Can of mountain do soda to our queen of the Patreon Goblin Katie Aka Katie Downey as well as our other wealthy level ah patrons including an jablinsky nicholas carterelli and mom and dad we say cheers thank you so much for the support again. 24:14.85 KP Ah I love. 24:25.77 sidekqpodcast All these people meet the threshold just by merely donating $2 a month they they donate more but for just $2 a month they get allowed Hurrah and all these fine people get to introduce an element of chance to our random tables which we might get to use here today. So if you want to learn more about the Patreon You should go to The. Show notes below. You should go to the podcast website or just go directly to Patreon.com Ford Slash sidekicks and side quests all spelled out and learn about our accommodations that we have awaiting for. You help us to expand and grow our operations of the levitating platter in this Demiplane. And Worlds Beyond So there. We go the banter for that done So now is the part where we get to make up a character So the question ah here for us now is what kind of Npc are we making is it are we going to use my random tables we're going to roll some dice and randomly generate one. Do you have like a preconceived idea that you would like to share or is it going to be a combo of both or what are you thinking? so. 25:31.20 KP Um, if you don't mind I'd love to have a combo of both because it's one of those things where it's such a personal journey that to to figure out a character. Any guidance would be very helpful to get started I'd say. 25:38.38 sidekqpodcast M. 25:44.93 sidekqpodcast Sure. Okay, so what is the skeletal framework that we're working with first. 25:52.88 KP So 1 thing about me and maybe you picked it up ah in our conversation or what I do but the big thing for me is that I anytime I create a character I do my best to base it off of like. 26:07.78 sidekqpodcast Okay. 26:07.97 KP My culture in some way because once again going back to using this as a platform as a tool to reconnect with where I come from and also as a way to showcase the the ah ah plentiful. Ah, sources of inspiration one can have if they kind of or it outside of the you know your general ah D and D fantasy settings sort of a thing so I would say that would probably be the biggest thing but before we get to that I think it will be a matter of like perhaps. 26:27.40 sidekqpodcast Yeah, yeah. 26:42.27 sidekqpodcast Um. 26:45.20 KP Using the random table generator to kind of at least have a baseline and then I can jump from there. 26:50.34 sidekqpodcast Okay, cool. So so you have an idea so we're going to be using. Ah your your culture. You know this wellspring that you have to draw from and but we're going to use random dice rolls to help us kind of fo. Focus. Ah, you know how how this character's going to emerge perfect. Okay, so then the first thing that we need to figure out for this character is what is their name. So if you need to generate that randomly. 27:07.75 KP Yeah. 27:20.72 sidekqpodcast We have a d 20 role that we can do or if you already know what you're thinking. So. 27:21.25 KP Um, on. 27:23.61 KP I think for a name how about how about aravind a RAV I n t 27:36.82 sidekqpodcast A R a ah D a b. 27:40.91 KP VARAVIN d 27:46.62 sidekqpodcast A are a VIND a a vi okay, all right our end all right, very cool I always like to make sure I spell it out because this is a podcast so we don't always have videos and and stuff like that to help us out. So um, all right. 27:50.20 KP Yeah, yeah. 28:00.00 KP Ah. 28:05.29 sidekqpodcast And then let's see the next thing we get to figure out is what is the ancestry of this character so this could be if you roll a d one hundred or two D ten s we could get something wildly unexpected or you know you have an idea let us know. 28:18.40 KP Who Yeah, well's do that. That's ah that sounds fantastic to me. 28:23.34 sidekqpodcast Okay, so. 28:28.90 sidekqpodcast And what did we get with a D one hundred. Oh no, no what I mean unless you want me to roll the dice but I always leave it to the guest. You know people love rolling dice so I would never deprive someone of rolling dice. So. 28:32.46 KP I'm so I'm still trying to I'm so I thought you were gonna roll. 28:41.00 KP Oh absolutely unfortunately and but I see me so I me see let me find it. Let me find 1 Oh come on RPG. 28:55.69 sidekqpodcast I think even Google will just do like roll dice or whatever. 29:01.48 KP Yeah, um, I'm trying to there we go and then you want two d tens right? Let's see ah 3 and an 8 so 30 29:04.66 sidekqpodcast Correct for a d 100 effect 29:13.97 sidekqpodcast But so 38 aho okay ah well according to this. It would be a thrre or a crowl which I guess is like the ravnika version of a thri cream. 29:26.80 KP I Don't know what either of those are I've never played that race before or that ancestor before. 29:32.36 sidekqpodcast Oh yeah, sure this the the thrrene also originated ah in eon I believe and then were then brought in 5 v through the spell jammer they were in the monster manual and then when spell jammer came out the thrive cream were introduced it. 29:45.44 KP Yeah, the. 29:50.40 sidekqpodcast Introduced as a playable character option so they are the like Mantis bug people and. 29:53.22 KP Togan. 29:57.24 KP Who cool and what was the other name other name for it. 30:01.96 sidekqpodcast Ah I had that I did this I did this whole comprehensive thing where I went through the books and I was like okay every conceivable Humanoid or Monster or something like that that has the ability to speak a language and conceivably interact with people should be on this table. So. 30:14.72 KP Yeah. 30:20.93 sidekqpodcast And the ravnika books that came out I think there's a variant of a thrive cream called a crowl KRAUL so either option or if you don't like this, you're bore the welcome to roll another d 100 if you want. 30:31.68 KP No I That sounds fantastic I Think that's super cool. 30:40.28 sidekqpodcast Okay, so arvind Theri creamne unless you want to go with the crowl variant. Ah ah, Thrrene T H R I And then a Hyphen K R E E n. 30:43.73 KP Know Let's to try? How do you spell dry cream. 30:56.71 KP Ah, okay. 30:58.58 sidekqpodcast All right? So arvind the thrrene all right and now the next thing we need to figure out what is the job or role in society that Arvind would have if you want to roll for that randomly. It will be just a singular d 10 unless you already know. 31:13.69 KP Um I think um and this is not related to like a class is it. This is just a right. 31:23.00 sidekqpodcast Like a job or role in society that conceivably any Npc would have. 31:30.00 KP God it got. It's oh fantastic. So then in that case I think considering when I think of like praying Mantis style everybody thinks of them like very wise looking very um. You know because they're all praying and everything so I can imagine them being some sort of like either an astrologer or like keeper of of scrolls keeper keeper of knowledge of some sort I like the idea of astrologer especially like I can imagine um a creature inspired by a. 32:02.23 KP Ah Bug would have one of those um multi Um, what are they called? Um, yeah so I think it would be super cool to think of it like as if though he's constantly monitoring the the um the heavens. 32:07.40 sidekqpodcast Yeah, the multifaceted eyes and stuff like that. 32:19.87 KP Through multiple telescopes each 1 looking at a different part of his segmented eyes I think that'd be super cool. 32:26.63 sidekqpodcast Okay, they okay astrologer there we go? Yeah,, That's very cool. Okay, um, and then let's see then the next thing we roll for um, how old is this Character. You can generate that randomly if you roll a D eight or if you just have an idea of how old you think this character should be. 32:38.41 KP On. 32:44.83 KP What's what's the typical age limit of ah of a thryrene. 32:47.53 sidekqpodcast Well, the beauty with this podcast is they're as old as they need to be so the d 8 kind of helps us cover the ranges from child all the way up to immortal. Basically if you want to roll randomly to figure out that jumping point. 32:52.23 KP Man. 32:58.93 KP Who I no I think I think I want to make him a little bit on the older side to some like an a wise old man sort of situation who's been monitoring the heavens the stars this you know celestial bodies for. 33:05.50 sidekqpodcast Ah, for them. So. 33:18.51 KP Most of his life and it's been his passion and if like an if a player were to meet him. He would just be this excited old man trying to explain the cosmos So maybe like? yeah yeah. 33:27.42 sidekqpodcast Okay, so we we're thinking like an elder like a proper elder. Okay, all right? So as we've now kind of solidified some of these ideas so when we think Aravan Thrirean Astrologer who's an elder. 33:44.60 KP Yeah. 33:46.37 sidekqpodcast Can you describe the physical appearance of arvind and. 33:51.70 KP So 1 thing I can imagine him having is that um I would imagine him like physically he's a very deep rich emerald green in color in terms of his physical like what. 34:05.26 sidekqpodcast Mm. 34:08.84 KP Kars I guess for him would it be um, um, and the thing about it is that ah Arvind in sanskrit means beautiful eyes one who has beautiful eyes so I can imagine his eyes being very jewel-like very. 34:09.70 sidekqpodcast Yeah. 34:27.40 sidekqpodcast Whoa. 34:28.50 KP Arkley and beautiful something that the rest of his ancestry would be very you know admiring of think it's beautiful. Um, and so I think that would be his like physical aspect. Um. And because he's of an older nature his ah ah like the rest of his body. He's he's kind of getting on in his age. He's a little more hunched over um that maybe his his therapist isn't as vibrant as it once was like maybe in his youth. It was. It was very vibrant. He was quite the handsome handsome. Ah. cream when he was but now it's kind of getting on in his age but still it has a very very very verdant sheen to it but the thing about him is that on top of that to match with that green hue. Ah, he wears a qrta that is of deep maroon coloring with gold embroidery on top paired with like a simple doti adoti is like a um, a white or cotton cloth that you can wrap around almost like pant-like in nature. Um, you just take it and you if you know how to fold it you can make it into almost like a pant-like in nature. Um, and yeah I think ah I think that's him that would be him is um, he's learned how to. 35:39.30 sidekqpodcast Mm. 35:51.15 sidekqpodcast Interesting. 35:55.50 KP Build his contraptions that users Now you know I mean I'm assuming they don't have opposable thumbs so being able to operate all machinery all of his tele. Ah, they do have forearms. Okay I should see how they look like hold up I was typing it out and I forgot to look it up. 36:01.19 sidekqpodcast I do have 4 arms. 36:11.72 sidekqpodcast I dropped it in the chat for you. So if you needed a quick link over to the forgotten Realms wiki. 36:16.30 KP Now there? Yeah oh and oh they have multiple limbs. Got it? yeah yeah I could imagine him like that too like I looking through multiple um as he operates different like at least 4 different telescopes at a time. Ah, but yeah I would say that's him. 36:36.75 sidekqpodcast He's using the arms to adjust them and bring him up to his eyes so he can see them and stuff like that. Okay, very cool and I you know. 36:40.17 KP Yeah, yeah. 36:48.40 sidekqpodcast The stated lore says like oh you know in the Eron they're like oh they're from the deserts and now with spelljammer stuff. It's like oh they exist in the astral sea and they live ah in wild space or wherever they may be So do we imagine him like more in like a desert sort of setting like in the mundane. 36:53.45 KP Um. 36:57.92 KP You yeah. 37:06.76 sidekqpodcast Mortal world of like everyone else or is he like 1 of these spell jammer like I'm on I'm on like an asteroid and I'm like watching all the other things going on in the cosmos. 37:18.12 KP I Hope imagine I would imagine the first opportunity he could have gotten to leave the desert I mean I could you see he may have originated from there like as a young ah you know a young bug looking up into the skies and being a desert I would imagine he had a. 37:25.83 sidekqpodcast Mm. 37:34.10 KP Great view of the cosmos from there right? and to that's probably where the spark came to be an astrologist and then the first opportunity he got to be in the you know the planar world and be able to observe it up close or at least closer than he would have in a much more expanded view. 37:36.94 sidekqpodcast Um. 37:53.69 KP I Think that would be that would be what he would have ended up being in. 37:58.32 sidekqpodcast Awesome! And then let's see ah are we able to describe our event with 3 adjectives. What 3 adjectives are best going to encapsulate him as a character. 38:10.52 KP Oh I love that um I think a little eccentric um wise and I think joyful eccentric wise and joyful is the 3 I would describe like. Ah, very very welcoming sort of a chat but also hard to read sometimes because he's just off on his own little tangents talking about so many different things. It's like it's like ah the the golden retriever dug from up where he'll just be on 1 thing and the next thing goes squil. 38:42.19 sidekqpodcast Um. 38:44.84 KP Is what? um and so just so many things firing off through his brain that it's hard to keep up. 38:50.50 sidekqpodcast Okay, all right? and then let's see now is the part where I say and now we get to go back to some dice rolling because we like all of our Npcs to have something cool on them. So what is going to be a valuable item piece of lore a secret. Or some ideal or concept that he ascribes to so this is a combo where um, you know if you're spitballing you know, maybe you think of some but if you want to just randomly generate something you would roll a d four for the category and then a d six ah for the particular thing. 39:26.70 KP I think I might have an idea I think with his nature of being an astrologist and and ah and I say astrologist I feel like that's the wrong word. Astrologist is more on the mystical side. Maybe he does that too. But as an observer of celestial bodies I can imagine him. Along his kind of you know, multiple views of the skies. He started possibly creating a star chart that lead. Um, where very interesting that um. 39:52.53 sidekqpodcast Mm. 39:58.12 KP If one were to be able to acquire this chart from him they might be able to navigate the cosmos to that specific location either for some sort of a treasure or some divine mysteries of the world that they can find especially if like I can imagine in a campaign. If. There's an overarching story or quest that the characters are on I think it would be a cool way for them to be able to find a location that will help them on that journey either to find some sort of a ancient artifact or you know with the nature of the cosmos being what they are. Perhaps touch upon Godhood or touch it touch upon seeing a God at some point of some sort right? So is something important in that sense through the Star chart. 40:41.83 sidekqpodcast Yeah, okay, all right? So the the fabled star chart of Arvind. Okay, that's pretty cool I like that. Um and you know and then let's see then the final ah bit that we need to add for the character is. What is going to be the quest that ar vin is going to send the player characters on ah you know to help him out or to do on his behalf. So if you want to randomly generate this the last dice roll would be a d 12 or if you've already got the idea. Let's let's hear it. 41:03.49 KP Um, I knew. 41:17.22 KP Oh man I think it'll probably have to do something with his telescopes. Um, it could be that um to finish the chart he needs he needs either an upgrade of his existing telescopes or he's in the process of. 41:27.25 sidekqpodcast Oh right right. 41:36.82 KP Building out a and new one that is most advanced he's ever created most advanced that has ever been seen in in the planar world in in all the worlds. Um, and it's what is needed to kind of find that central crux that central point of the Star chart and perhaps. 41:40.94 sidekqpodcast M. 41:54.60 sidekqpodcast M. 41:56.67 KP Will you know send the the the players on a quest to either gather some appropriate materials for it or like the energy source perhaps needed to power it of some sort I think I can imagine that being the quest to help him complete. The this project complete the building of this advanced telescope. 42:18.52 sidekqpodcast Okay, yeah, that's pretty cool. It's like yeah, go find like these power crystals or like we need like this really specific kind of glass in order to make the lenses. Ah for the telescope or whatever. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Okay. 42:23.51 KP Um, yeah. 42:30.23 KP Yeah I mean along those lines. It could be also like oh my God This asteroid is obstructing my view figure out a way to move my move that asteroid out of the way and it might be like an impossible sounding task but it'd be a fun one to help at this point like maybe the players are you know. Powerful enough to be able to do something about it. You know, um, and yeah, exactly, but like the the the adversary is that maybe there is a ah local tyrant or or a some some sort of organization that already. 42:49.11 sidekqpodcast Yeah, they have they have their own space galleon and they can just mine the asteroid and break it up into component materials or something like that. 43:08.27 KP Either claims to own it or is has been on it. So now you have to kind of either negotiate with them or do something else. Perhaps combat perhaps a bit more aggressive approach. Whatever the case might be to be able to move it right? Um, so something along those lines to help him being able to complete that star chart I think would be a fun 1 43:19.95 sidekqpodcast Okay. 43:25.70 sidekqpodcast Okay, okay, so we know so we're going to endeavor to help our event in completing his fabled star Chart. So What is going to be the reward when the players are successful. They they you know they retrieve the material component. Or they you know the the asteroid that's obstructing the viewer. Whatever it may be they accomplish the task that arvind has set before them. What is the reward. 43:49.59 KP Um I can see in that scenario. Well once again I think the star chart itself would be the major reward out of it I can imagine that some sort of a secret gets revealed. To Arvind in that process that he's like oh no, that I this needs to go this needs to get out. But it's too big of a secret. The only ones I can trust is the group of adventures that have approached me on this quest and this is something that'll help you along with it because if you don't do it. Something bad will happen I have discovered something bad that is happening over there so use the starark go over there figure it out fix. It kind of a thing. 44:31.16 sidekqpodcast Mm. Okay, yeah, so this is like the big secret reveal of like ah the next now we're entering the end game phase of the campaign kind of a thing. Okay, yeah, and then if you and so then we have to also consider the opposite. What's going to be the consequence of failure. 44:38.62 KP Um, yeah. 44:47.38 sidekqpodcast Or refusing the call to the adventure so they meet this astrologer and he's like go deal with this thing and the players are like no, we've got more pressing things to deal with what's going to be the consequence of failure or refusing the call to the adventure. 44:49.48 KP Um, meaning. 45:01.38 KP I Think so as I was thinking more and more about it like the the entire premise of Indian Mythology is finding balance right? It's not about good or evil it's about finding balance across the Universe. Um, and when the balance gets tipped in the wrong way is when divine intervention happens and I can imagine that perhaps through this you know that there's what he notices what he observes has been an imbalance of energies an imbalance baby between the. Solar and lunar energies across the world perhaps or or some some cosmic energy across around the ah across the universe and if they don't choose to work with him. It'll be a crucial information that they might miss out on not necessarily leading to failure but have consequences where things kind of tend to go. 45:45.70 sidekqpodcast M. 45:59.74 KP Much worse than it would have normally been. You know?? Ah, the energy might deteriorate faster which leads to other civilizations that they would have encountered that have been might have been a bit more in pristine condition is now either destroyed or or derelict left behind or just in a more shambled. Date of some sort and it kind of just leads more and more into that chaos that's been happening and so um, yeah, exactly right? you you missed out a crucial piece of information and it'll just make things a little bit harder to get to. 46:21.27 sidekqpodcast Mm. 46:25.90 sidekqpodcast The reapers are going to show up early. Yeah. 46:38.82 KP At least initially, maybe there's someone else that you can get this information from but this would have been the most apt or appropriate. 46:38.92 sidekqpodcast Right? right? It's so it's a way to slowly tick the dials a little more in difficulty. Ah. 46:48.29 KP Yeah, yeah. 46:50.62 sidekqpodcast Yeah, so yeah, yeah, obviously you don't want to you know if that's how the campaign's going to go you obviously want to leave multiple areas or chances for the players to be able to figure this out and not you know punish them for not figuring it out but certainly a very cool way to be like oh we're just helping this nice thrre astrologer who just wants to. Map. The cosmos isn't that neat and then it's like oh the harbinger of doom is going to be fast approaching. So it's like we need to rally the forces of good ah to kind of like make sure that we're okay, kind of a thing all right. 47:15.41 KP Yeah, right? Exactly exactly. 47:26.37 sidekqpodcast And then let's see here. We have some optional questions as well. If you feel like ah you wish to explore our vin's character a little more or if you're good. We can head on to the next section. 47:33.53 KP You I love it I'm I'm down that sounds fantastic. 47:41.90 sidekqpodcast Ah, so like to keep going with more questions or you're good. Oh okay, um so let's see so what are the goals and motivations of Arvan as a character. 47:42.75 KP Yeah, yeah, yeah, and let's yeah, keep going. 47:54.25 KP Oh man I think for him, he's the sort of character that will um man they think this. It's just an act acquiring of Knowledge. Um. A lot of like trying to just Unravel the mysteries of the universe for him through his work figure out whether I mean whether he believes in Gods or not I think that's a separate thing I think for him, It's a matter of if they exist they are a part of this universe they operate within it and therefore. There's got to be something about them in how they operate some set of laws rules or behaviors that they operate under um and just him trying to kind of figure that out how the cosmos affect each other like I said like these energies this this balance of things. For him is trying to just learn more about that and how these energies how these things interact with each other and affect the rest of the universe and those that live in it is kind of like almost kind of like researching the infinity stones sort of a situation where if anything happened to them. 49:00.89 sidekqpodcast M. 49:07.13 KP The universe gets affected right? So similar to him that I trying to figure that out and figure the nuances of that I think is his motivation and who he is. 49:07.32 sidekqpodcast Right? right. 49:14.67 sidekqpodcast And then how do these goals and motivations affect his general personality. 49:20.40 KP Man I think it's just he's so full of knowledge. He just doesn't know. It's like you don't know where to start so like I said he can be very eccentric in that nature where um, he's just on. So I think he's he's gonna be a very intelligent character. So like his brain is constantly firing off on different. Threads and following through and to him it makes sense. He's like oh while I'm having this happen I'm already like calculating these calculations and figuring out the stars and locations of this and mapping out its orbit here. And so on and so forth right? So he's on all these multiple threads and then halfway through he's like what did I have for lunch today kind of a thing. So like if ah, a player were to meet him I would play his character as someone who's just so eccentric that it will just be a challenge for the player to try to make him. 50:07.70 sidekqpodcast Um. 50:09.86 KP Focus and give him information. But if they have the patience to work with him I think it'd be a lot of fun to kind of figure out that conversation. 50:12.00 sidekqpodcast M. And speaking of interactions how does ourn normally interact with other people is he pretty much the same across the board or is he going to be nuanced depending on who he's talking with like say like friends and family versus peers versus enemies and rivals and. 50:32.21 KP Um, oh absolutely I think for him. Um in terms of who he's talking to I think obviously I mean there's gonna be a baseline where he's still on this multithreaded approach. Um. 50:34.77 sidekqpodcast Such. 50:47.60 KP But I think depending on who he talks to particularly if it's a close family Member. He does his best to kind of cater to them I can imagine him. Maybe not having a daughter but a young ah like a young child that he. Watched grow up and so he's very close to and to Them. He's much more um, much more focused kind of like his reprieve away from it all kind of a thing you know, um I Do think that. Opportunity to do that for him is a lot less considering he's isolated himself out on some sort of asteroid ah in the in the in the planercape of all things so he doesn't get those opportunities as much anymore unless someone went to come and visit him as in terms of enemies. 51:31.76 sidekqpodcast Um. 51:39.33 KP I could imagine him having like some sort of a scientific rival or astrological rival. Ah that tries to constantly disprove him maybe sabotages work of some sort so to him those type of people are probably his enemies that he just gets very vindictive against and tries to figure out how to stop them. Maybe that's also. 51:44.24 sidekqpodcast Ooh. 51:57.83 sidekqpodcast Um, this other astrologer built a telescope in my field of vision I need you to destroy it. 51:58.10 KP Other thing is is to have the players fight off. Right? And or like he he he's he's subpar he thinks he's good, but he's subpar and the only way he can prove that he's good is by sabotaging my work so it can be like a phase 2 after building out this the telescope and like all right protect protect it from this guy this asshole. Or hey ah maybe he's not all that good. Maybe he is a little bit vindictive so he could be like this ass all over here. He's building a similar telescope go sabotage. It kind of a thing you know, really depends on how the Dm wants to play him off as I don't think he's like overall bad I think he will just be in those moments be a little vindictive. 52:31.55 sidekqpodcast M. 52:42.70 sidekqpodcast Okay, is there a particular accent or language that Arvind would speak with. Are there any idiosyncrasies in how he acts or speaks. 52:42.77 KP If he wants to um. 52:52.52 KP Oh Yeah I think idiosyncrasy is wise he's probably just very fast paceced his speech manner of Speech is typically very quick like we were talking about earlier very similar to Sollarian similar to Morden very cut and quick unless something comes up that. Allows him to slow down. So ah, his indication of how he's operating and in terms of how excited he is but most of the time he's very Excited. So I think he'll just be like a very fast speaking person and then halfway through he'll be switching constantly to different things some of which just don't have. Any tangent at least to what we can think of you ever have those conversations where at the end of it. You're like how did we get on this topic I swear we were talking about spaceships and and rocks and now we're talking about grill cheese where did that connection happen some? Yeah yeah. 53:43.32 sidekqpodcast I'm the guy that does that that's me that you're just describing me of like oh I'll get I will derail conversations where where they think I've derailed it I'm like no no, no it relates because it's all tangential to the original. 53:52.25 KP Um. 53:58.61 sidekqpodcast Topic that we were discussing. 54:00.43 KP Yep, exactly exactly? Um, yeah I think that's that's kind of who he is in terms of accent. Ah yeah I think he would have um I can imagine him having a very thick south indian style accent but I don't think you have to if you ever play him. You have to give him 1 54:14.65 sidekqpodcast M. 54:17.43 KP How I would play him is so I'm so one of the person I'm I'm basing him after is Dr such shehi thur. Um, he is he was the indian ah president and I forget from when to when. Ah, but also he's a scientist and he was the one who was instrumental in bringing India into the space age he built the one of the first rockets. Ah for India and he's regarded as a very passionate smart. Um, kind individual. 54:39.36 sidekqpodcast Oh. 54:55.10 KP And ah, a lot of indians look up to him a lot of scientists look up to him I think ah I believe I want to say Denmark or 1 of the eastern european countries have a statue for him and dedicated an entire day to him because of his contributions to science. Um. 55:13.82 KP But yeah doctor so sashi thur um um'we, no no no I think of the wrong person. Not no's not sahi holy crap cut all of that doctor doctor. Oh my god Abdul Kaam Abdul Kaam oh my god. 55:18.86 sidekqpodcast Quick Google save us. 55:31.91 KP Sashi Thor is a politician who' very smart as well and his manner of speaking is very eloquent. That's where I was going off of that his manner of speaking is very very eloquent and so that's Sashi Aor um and he's a historian versus Abdul Kaam is the Dr Abdulkaam is the the um scientist that I wanted to talk about and wow people are going to get mad at me for that sort of but I'm so sorry Adhd brain sometimes just does that to me. Ah. 56:07.38 sidekqpodcast Well speaking of you know, ah the inspiration behind ar and um, what impact has Rvin made on the world. How has he shaped his local area. 56:16.55 KP I Think for him, It's just despite his eccentrices people value his contribution to the like the scientific Community values. It astrology community probably values it because he's helped navigate because I was imagined the planescape to be a very chaotic. Um, very wild sort of a place correct me if I'm wrong, but it's just like one of those things where so many wild things can happen. But I think he kind of through all of that helped build out safe navigational routes for people. Um, Discovery of these energy sources or others. Um and and helping just understand the universe and our place in it. A lot better. Um I think is is his major major contributions in that perhaps like also theoretical stuff in terms of helping out on. Ah, Rocket technology or or interspace interstellar travel and and having contributions in that sense right? So particular. 57:21.80 sidekqpodcast Um, who that the old now that's interesting because it's like with the the assumption with the spell Jammerre setting is like oh you have these like space gallingships and they have like these magical helms is what you use to like propel yourself around. But. 57:31.70 KP Yeah. 57:36.32 sidekqpodcast If ah his star charts and all his ah his ah engineering kind of brain since you know he's building This massive Telescope has he delved into like actual rocketry and trying to figure out like propulsion and stuff like that You think. 57:48.40 KP I would imagine so I would imagine like he might not have directly been involved in the physical aspect of it but like design particularly I would say in terms of harnessing. Celestial energy or harnessing interstellar energy to help propel and make a more efficient faster method of travel. Um I think his goal always is to just map out the universe and make it a safer place for others to be able to explore it. 58:18.28 sidekqpodcast M. 58:20.47 KP Ah, particularly for him to be able to explore it I'm sure if he gets the opportunity in the future where he can be safely able to go around. He would be constantly on the move. He wouldn't be on a singular asteroid or maybe the asteroid will be able to take him everywhere that he needs you. 58:32.30 sidekqpodcast Oh he he he figures out propulsion so he can literally move the asteroid around where it needs to go and so he can get like that full 3 sixty degree view of the universe kind of a thing. Okay, and then let's see the last optional question here. 58:38.62 KP Yeah, exactly. 58:44.54 KP Exactly. 58:51.64 sidekqpodcast Does our event have any current problems that prevents him from being a bigger player on the stage is it The fact that he doesn't have the telescope yet or he hasn't figured out how to propulse the asteroid around or whatever we're thinking. 58:58.62 KP I think. Ah, man I think those 2 potentially could be it. But also I think he just doesn't care to him like his life passion is to be doing what he's already doing um I think the only thing that would propel him into a bigger player is. 59:12.39 sidekqpodcast Mm. 59:23.17 KP If the players I mean if the the party comes back to him with what they had discovered on that star chart that where they went or if he believes that the the players themselves might not be or whoever he tasked might not be up to par and himself goes to explore it right? um. 59:29.50 sidekqpodcast I. 59:42.40 KP Could imagine him in the end game sort of scenario where he gives a lot of supporting role to the the you know the players if it needs to be a battle situation. Um I think his control of celestial bodies control of you know, scientific knowledge. As well as how to control these various energy sources might come in very handy in especially if necessary for combat in some capacity. 01:00:11.52 sidekqpodcast Pretty gnarly dude all right? Um, and so now is the time after we've made it through Npc creation. It's time to throw our R vend into a random encounter. 01:00:11.82 KP Um, yeah. 01:00:24.55 KP Um, yeah. 01:00:33.65 sidekqpodcast And then that would be the part where I would lead into the final ad read. But I'll worry about that again in the post production. So now is the part of the show where we get to do a little bit of a role play of vignetteta scene from ah. 01:00:38.92 KP The same fifty fifty 01:00:50.69 sidekqpodcast Get to do a little bit sorry my wife opened the door and threw the cat in here so that that kind of threw me off there. Okay so this is the part of the show where we get to do a little bit of a role play a vignette a scene we get to play just at the tiniest amount of dungeons and dragons here and now. Um so I think Kp has done a wonderful job. 01:00:55.80 KP Ah. 01:01:10.71 sidekqpodcast Building out Arvand Ah, but now the question becomes what sort of scene. Are you interested in presenting Ar Andd in is it going to be as we've ah alluded to in figuring out the character is this arvand having a moment with their with their loved one? um. 01:01:12.97 KP Um, the 50 01:01:30.28 sidekqpodcast Is it going to be Arvin meeting one of my podcast adventuring characters to be able to give them the side quest is it Arvin speaking with this rival astrologer figure ah or or is it something else that that Arvin could be doing what what? what? kind of scene? are you interested in. 01:01:39.58 KP Um, who I could admit. 01:01:46.36 KP I think just meeting the a player character or an adventuring party I think would be fun. 01:01:52.90 sidekqpodcast Okay, excellent. So we can do that and we have a whole list of characters to read off for you so I will do that now your options include Duncan he's the recklessly brave adventurer for hire happy. Go lucky no feet too small. No. No job to daring kind of a guy. We've got Sonja who's the warrior woman ah started off as a barbarian multiclassed into a paladin who serves a god that wishes to redeem the undead we have Koak who's the lawful evil arcane trickster roguish dwarf. We have Kris Lee 01:02:17.43 KP Um, come. 01:02:24.17 KP Um, oh. 01:02:30.84 sidekqpodcast Who's the herbalist botanist wood elf druid from the woad who then multiclass into a cleric who serves living memory and then we have oion who is the astral elf allusionist wizard so does come from ah the the astral c and then we've got ah. Ah, Gape who is the lilac colored tiflling. Ah solock started off as a wild magic ah sorcer with fame magic in her blood and then made a pact with an archphay prosperina who's another character we made on this podcast. So. 01:03:02.66 KP Um, yeah. 01:03:05.61 sidekqpodcast Those are the characters that have been established thus far. But if none of those characters sound good. We can make up someone new. 01:03:10.26 KP I Think they all sound fantastic. But I'm open to whichever one. You want to you wanted to do. 01:03:19.18 sidekqpodcast Oh it's well it's guest choice. It's ah it's whoever you think will play most interestingly against Arvind. 01:03:24.47 KP I think either or the the the celestial the one that has the has the celestial connection is what that orion would be a fun one or. 01:03:33.89 sidekqpodcast Okay, orion. 01:03:40.24 KP Someone who has nothing to do with the scientific mindset or anything to do with like like like the the war the what is it what we heard was her name. The warrior Barb Sonia something along those lines like I can imagine her being very like. 01:03:49.30 sidekqpodcast Oh Sonia. 01:03:57.89 KP Brisk and cutthroat not cutthroat but like to the point get to the point kind of a person so that would be an interaction to have with with Arvind in terms of how he would handle that. 01:04:01.27 sidekqpodcast M. 01:04:10.50 sidekqpodcast Yeah, um, well I know ah ah I'm I'm I'm personally leaning towards o'ion ah because ah, well because his character was lost from the astral C he's been trying to find his way back. So and he hasn't been heard from in a while in the podcast so it could be an explanation. 01:04:17.42 KP Um, okay. 01:04:22.22 KP Are. 01:04:28.41 sidekqpodcast As to how he's got himself to meet Arvin perhaps okay would you like to go ahead and and set the scene or would you like for me to set the scene. 01:04:31.94 KP Um, yeah. 01:04:37.14 KP I Think what? whatever you think if you want to set the scene that'll be fantastic. 01:04:43.12 sidekqpodcast Okay, where we last left our Hugh o'ion quite some time ago. He had ah been chilling in the mundane world. He met a lovely pair of of ladies Knox and Norrie. Ah. In the in the desert port town in which um, which Norrie was ah the child. Ah who worked at the apothecary and then ah her friend Knox who is this yeti that was on a deep sea archaeology exchange program and then there was this whole. Epic ah battle and scene with the dragon star with ah retrieving this meteorite that had crashed into the ocean and then clearing ah said dragon ah that had found the meteor and hoarded it out of the ruins. So then that way Knox could you know continue on with the group's exploration of the nearby ruins. Um, through the course of that adventure. Ah o' Ryan was able to find a critical piece that he needed to be able to figure out how to teleport back to the astral sea and so with the implement in hand. Ah back on dry land obviously saying goodbye to his friends Knox and norie. 01:05:51.86 KP Um, who. 01:05:58.17 sidekqpodcast He activates the arcane device and when he does He's instantly transported into the astral seed. Of course the astral C being this vastness of space. He finds himself floating and he's floating towards something. 01:06:14.77 KP Um. 01:06:16.91 sidekqpodcast What is it that he's floating towards life. 01:06:19.43 KP A giant asteroid but 1 that looks a little bit different. You can see on the asteroid um, almost like mechanical parts attached to it. It feels like like the base is rock. The base was once a pure. Rock asteroid but now around it. Um, you you see protrusions like some sort of creature made protrusions of metal of technology of of arcane ruins going around. Ah you might even see a strange loop. That goes from one end of the asteroid all the way to the other end similar to like a particle accelerator. Ah that that is on on the center like going on the the largest diameter of the asteroid. Um, and it's been because of that it's been shaped into almost a perfect. Fear it looks like it's not quite rocky looking anymore. Um, so almost like a planet but not necessarily. You could know that this is there is no planet of that small step like size but and it was clearly carved into that shape. 01:07:27.21 sidekqpodcast Um. 01:07:31.80 KP So this is not something that was naturally formed. Yeah, and then amongst them the 1 thing big thing on the north and south poles of this as well as across the you know various parts of the the asteroid you see large tubes. Perturing from it comically large that that look like it's like when you look at a mountain. It looks small, but as you approach, you're like oh oh this is big. Oh this is giant and you realize that they are various telescopes in different shapes. Protruding from this asteroid. 01:08:11.86 sidekqpodcast Okay, yeah, and o'ri is just kind of s spinning a little bit and he has to adjust himself and he looks and he sees this asteroid and his eyes get very wide. He has his astral ah Elf Eyes whiten and it's like he has his own little. You know stars and solar systems built. Ah you know that are that are ah pictured in his eyes. Um, and so he will ah excuse me, he will use. He'll pull out his spellbook and he very quickly make sure that he has fly memorized for the day. 01:08:33.64 KP Um, no. 01:08:47.55 sidekqpodcast And so then he like uses it to like propel himself forward so he can fly towards this ah asteroid he finds a spot where he can comfortably land and then he begins to look around and he's like a you know through the echoing halls or whatnot and he's like ah hello hello i. I mean you no harm. Ah by name. My name is o' Ryan I need help hello hello. 01:09:13.27 KP Ah, yeah, yes, yes, leave that leave the package over there at the door just go away. 01:09:19.92 sidekqpodcast Ah, and o' Ryan will turn to look and and how is he seeing r of end right now. 01:09:26.70 KP You see him hunched over a contraption that um is is a panel got removed from this contraption that's ginormous. Um, as he's trying to fix something and then he'll adjust something and then look through a tube like this. And then I'll go back adjust something else and then keep looking in it and just kind of like being frustrated each time as he dress. Ah Justin clearly it's not focusing or doing what he wants it to do. 01:09:55.64 sidekqpodcast Ah, well pardon me I I Do you need some help I an extra set of hands here if you. 01:10:00.82 KP Um, have handss. Yes, yes, it is coming come Can we come here. Let me take a look and he like as he comes close. He immediately reaches out grabs his hands and like puts him ah up to his eyes and his like bulbous eyes up top. Once again. 01:10:05.35 sidekqpodcast But he he he quickly rushes into the room. So. 01:10:20.39 KP Every jewel-like of various Jewels. It looks like all shift around and like almost looks like they scanned his eyes across I mean his hands across every details lateral looks on the small side but maybe this will do and then he goes like all right quick. Go here jump overs there and as I turned this style I Want you to read. Down down there and then just turn it a little bit just you see that you see that what I'm talking about right on 1 on 2 on 3 are god. 01:10:44.60 sidekqpodcast Yes, Yes I see I Yes I see it here. But and then he makes the necessary adjustment. 01:10:55.00 KP Um, and he looks at it. Ah it did. 01:11:00.78 KP Yeah, that worked and then he goes and then you hear a ding you just help made my lunch young man and he opens up like um, clearly a microwave and his like pulls it out and starts munching away at it. 01:11:15.61 sidekqpodcast And then he looks ah flabergasities like ah oh okay, then um, that is that is how long how long has it been because I feel I was I was on a ship. 01:11:21.70 KP I've been rubbished. 01:11:27.35 KP Well I'm a construct though I mean I don't know where did you start and where are you going? you know. 01:11:33.10 sidekqpodcast Well I was I was in the sea and he says gesturing to like the wider astral seeves I was on a mission I was on the sea and we must have struck us a storm a rift and I went tumbling to the mundane world and that's where I've been. So how long has it been to have such technology as this exist is it have I mean gone thousands of years 01:11:56.53 KP Well, this is all one like right? This is oh no, no, no, no, no, no,, there's no wood and I nothing like this ever anywhere else. This is one of a kind the good old outwind original this way and he starts just going on a tangent ah not like. Trying to explain the nuances of all this technology that he's created. It's a fusion of arcane ruins fusion of magic and and tech that he's worked On. Um but clearly very passionate about like as soon as he's like getting to the crux of the matter of 1 Instrument. He just jumps over like never seems to complete the train of thought there before he jump over to something is and this right here This is crucial. This is fascinating I I can go deep into space through this into the astro sea and and and yeah. 01:12:34.66 sidekqpodcast M. 01:12:48.26 sidekqpodcast Well, he finds a very receptive audience in orion. He I modeled orion kind of like on a spock sort of a character So like he is definitely sort of vibing with this right now. He's happy to be back in his or original plane of existence. Um. 01:12:54.82 KP Blue blue. 01:13:04.91 sidekqpodcast And he's gonna he'll let him he will let him ramble for as long as he wants and maybe it's hours later before orion finally gets a word in and he's just kind of like yeah I Well thank you so much for that explanation of of microwave technology very fascinating stuff. But. 01:13:13.98 KP Um, and. 01:13:22.10 KP As it all of this all these different energies just people don't even know about you just need to harmminist it. You just need to tap into it and this and then you can do wild things like heating your food without fire. 01:13:24.20 sidekqpodcast I. 01:13:35.33 sidekqpodcast Yes, and then he he pulls out his ah spellbook and he does like he's kind of like in a more allusionist based wizard and so he's like and he so he's looks at all of the the stuff around him. 01:13:41.70 KP E. 01:13:46.87 sidekqpodcast And he begins to like make these like major images and minor images and all this of like of what he's seen to like reproduce it in his hands as like an illusion. He's like very fascinating stuff and very intriguing for sure I I can't thank you enough for your hospitality. But with giving me at least a safe refuge until I can get back to bastion for sure. But yes, yes I Am you know the the the great city built on the ruins of the dead God Ah, ah my apologies. My apologies. 01:14:07.89 KP Know he trying to get to bastion and like the mushes over yes business I Know what is is I know what is and it stops up and then he goes in he wants to do a pile of like scrolls and like almost like it's. 01:14:22.78 sidekqpodcast Um, so he. 01:14:27.34 KP Comically large like he's like almost swimming in it all La ah some screwge my duck style and then I like no no, that's not that's and ah yeah, and then he tucks ah a scroll at you and ah if you open it up. It's a star chart. 01:14:33.95 sidekqpodcast Um. 01:14:38.70 sidekqpodcast Oh. 01:14:43.66 KP On how to get from here to bastion. 01:14:45.14 sidekqpodcast Oh my goodness you must are you do You are you among the Vestige though The oh ah, he you know? Ah, just in case for his own you know I guess he's compelled as sort of like this spock character to just explain that like. 01:14:51.43 KP I have messages I mean. 01:15:04.49 sidekqpodcast Oh the vestige are one of the 3 sects that exist that worship the dead god that originate from bastion and the idea of the vestige is like they're the ones that are the space explorers so they go out and through their ah religious studies and such they map out. Ah, the cosmos and the astral sea and so they're ah from bastion in their point of view. They're considered the ones that have like these equally as impressive star charts. So he's trying to pay Arvind this great compliment by saying like oh he's a member. He must be a member of. 01:15:33.65 KP Oh. 01:15:39.35 sidekqpodcast The vestige of the of the worshippers of the dead God because he has such extensive ah star charts and stuff like this. 01:15:46.47 KP No, he ah by they they posers they they wish I they could be as good. 01:15:52.90 sidekqpodcast Oh and he he is definitely more more ah more taken aback by that you know maybe he didn't ah you know? Yeah I wouldn't consider myself a strong worshipper of the dead God But when you live on the dead God It's like you. You know, kind of like a reflexive thing of like oh you know I would never I would never Speak. Bad's badly of them or anything like that. Um, but ah, but you know he's happy for this and he's like you've paid me such a kindness and in my time of doing adventuring work in the mundane World. You know I've I've. 01:16:12.11 KP Blasphemous. Yeah yeah. 01:16:26.81 sidekqpodcast I've I've see the benefit of of ah returning the favor and so it it I feel like I must ask you now is there something that I can do to help you out with the great kindness that you've paid for me. 01:16:39.20 KP Ah, you know? Okay, how about this and then I kind of he pulls out um like a very complex Diagram blueprint that stretches quite a bit like it's a giant one once again, comically large open it up and it looks so complex. Um. 01:16:45.37 sidekqpodcast So. 01:16:55.10 sidekqpodcast Um. 01:16:58.37 KP And he kind of just points to a couple like circles a couple different things. Well if you come across this little dohiki here and this little duweki here if you can figure that out on where I can find one of those things I think one of them is like the center of a star like I really need the nucleus of a star. You can get me that that'll be really great. Um, um, and then and then and then um, like I believe I need a new type of lens that will help me unravel a different spectrum of energy. Um, and you see. Like going and shifting between accents as he's speaking on and 1 moment. He seems like he doesn't have one and another moment he does have one. It seems like he's trying to figure out what kind of effect he wants to give ah to to the to the person talking to him. Um. 01:17:37.11 sidekqpodcast Mm. 01:17:48.68 sidekqpodcast Um. 01:17:49.12 KP And once again as part of his eccentric nature. He just doesn't know his mind doesn't make it can't make up 1 specific way of of doing something. Um, but yes, if you can find me the center of a dying star the nucleus of one ah that would be great. 01:17:57.75 sidekqpodcast Um. 01:18:05.78 sidekqpodcast Okay, that's that is a tall order and I suppose a good thing I'm going back to bastion because I should be able to find a ship and a crew and. Hopefully this time around I won't get caught in ah some sort of astral storm and get propelled to another plane of existence. It seems. 01:18:26.62 KP Well, that'd be wild ah pass of luck to you now get out. 01:18:31.25 sidekqpodcast Okay, and then without ah much further much ado ah pulling out a spellbook I guess he manages to find ah his teleportation spell that he has attuned for his his ah humble abode in bastion. And so very he takes you know he makes the chalk marks and all that stuff on the ground and then you know he you know he waves ah by which I'm sure Arvin by this point has already like ignored him and he just kind of like disappears teleports and now he's back home and seen. 01:18:54.92 KP Yeah, yeah, yeah. 01:19:03.51 KP Ah, and there it is. 01:19:05.59 sidekqpodcast So there we go. We made it through the random encounter. So what did you think getting to be arvand so. 01:19:11.60 KP I Loved it I I I really enjoyed that that was a lot of fun. Ah. 01:19:16.60 sidekqpodcast Yeah, no I've already got ideas for how to stick Arvind in my world in my campaign. So I can't I can't wait to deploy me sounds ah delightful I loved the world building that you did with the asteroid and like it's perfectly spherical. 01:19:21.34 KP E a. 01:19:30.51 sidekqpodcast It's got the ah like the the particle accelerator thing around the middle and all the telescopes that are sticking out of it it fascinating? Yeah yeah, so now we're starting to get in now we are starting to get into the part of the show. That's just the final thoughts. So I always like to you know, check in with the guest. 01:19:38.50 KP Thank you! That was so much fun. Ah. 01:19:49.17 sidekqpodcast How was your time on the show. Did you enjoy it. You know listener feedback all that sort of stuff. Ah so yeah, yeah, what'd you think. 01:19:56.60 KP I Had a blast and this was so much fun. Um, once again, it goes back to my passion and joy of storytelling and worldbuding so having an opportunity to kind of almost on the fly but with a structure be able to build one out. 01:20:06.81 sidekqpodcast M. 01:20:11.54 KP I Think it's It's a great idea and I hope that it shows to people. How not easy necessarily but how one can come up with things like this you don't need to be talented so-called talented or have a whole bunch of experiences just a matter of just sitting down and. Putting together some fun ideas and as long as you have the right questions to ask you can end up with something. Super super fun. Um, So yeah, this was absolutely lovely. I Loved him I'm stealing the character for myself for something else too. 01:20:33.40 sidekqpodcast M. 01:20:39.10 sidekqpodcast Yeah, oh yeah I was going to say I totally envision a and the thrrene being like you know if you play him younger I could totally envision him as like an artificer or something like that. 01:20:51.19 KP Yeah, yeah. 01:20:54.70 sidekqpodcast Like he's just building things and his ultimate goal is he wants to map the universe and so like that's what is ah you know he has like proficiency and like um like ah cartographers ah tools or or um or astrolabes like you know, ah star charts and and all this sort of stuff. Yeah, Astrolabes and. 01:21:03.20 KP Um, yeah. 01:21:09.90 KP Absolutely. 01:21:13.75 sidekqpodcast Sextants and all the other nautical tools and terms and I'm just pulling out of thin air. But but yeah, so as we get to the the final moments of the show. Um, yeah I Always like to leave it here to the guest. So I turn over the stage the microphone the soapbox the platform to you plug ah plug to us. 01:21:16.14 KP Um, not. 01:21:32.53 sidekqpodcast Where can we find you on socials. What do we need to be tuned in about and then any other passions or causes that we need to be made aware of. 01:21:41.76 KP Oh man, um I think for me, it's just you know keep your keep your passions alive keep your you know love for and and creative visions Alive I'm on my end just trying to keep pursuing that myself as I mentioned just. Excited for a lot of these fun projects and performances that have been a part of so can't wait for folks to see it if you're interested. Do check them out. They're they're full of talented people I'm just one of them. Um, and you know just if you can. Ah. Go and donate to a just cause there's a lot of hurt a lot of pain around the World. So if you can do your part kind of either. You don't even have to donate you can just share it. Talk about it. Let people know about it so that way others who can and have the funds to to support. It can. There's a you know. So much happening that if we can do something on our part to help it will be.. It will be a good thing to do so Um, yeah, that's all I had. 01:22:43.53 sidekqpodcast And and and you are KPEleven studios across the majority of all social medias all right K P Eleven studios you should be following him if you're not already. 01:22:52.88 KP Yep, that is me. 01:22:59.61 sidekqpodcast Ah, thank you so much Kp for being a guest my neighbor Howdy howdy and I can't wait to have you back on to make even more interesting in pcs. 01:23:02.10 KP How. Thank you so Much. Bye.
