# Top 5 [ Oct 19, 2020 ] *INTRO* What’s up everybody! Welcome to another episode of the Top 5 @ 5 with your host Jonni Kuest. Today is [ Mon Oct 19, ]. Here’s what you missed while you were tryna figure out if your podcast app was broken : 1. Twitter/Biden/Facebook 1. Ok yea I’ve been gone for a while. Sorry about that team. Have I mentioned the real job yet? Pretty sure I have. It’s been busy. But enough about me. Cuz it’s been busy in the news too. And the biggest news of last week, and falling into this week still, has to be about social media platforms, and whether they censor conservative voices. Or if you’re on the left, whether they allow too much hate speech. Most of this centers around twitter, since that’s more a soapbox platform than facebook is, but since facebook is larger and most americans are still getting their news from the website, it falls into the grouping as well. So how did it start this time. Well last week. The New York Post released an article, claiming it was smoking gun proof that the Biden family was corrupt. In this article were a bunch of scandalous photos of Hunter Biden, Joe’s son, and one in particular of him passed out, with what looks like a crack pipe in his mouth. There was also an email. Ah yes! The emails! In this email, it appears that a Ukrainian executive at Burisma, where Hunter was on the board, thanked Hunter for introducing him to his dad in DC back when he was still Vice President. Something the Biden team has continually denied took place. It wasnt on his schedule, so it wasnt an official meeting they say. Ok. So whats the controversy. Well when Trump retweeted the article, it was flagged. When the White House retweeted it, it was blocked. Their account got locked. So did the NY Post account. Facebook removed the post altogether. Immediately you’d think? WTF. Just cuz its against Biden they do this? Maybe. But they claim 2 things. 1. This looks like hacked information. And they dont allow hacked info on the platform. Facebook claimed however that it was just misleading information that wasnt properly vetted and could influence the election. And well. They not really wrong. I mean, I’ll let twitter user Dan Sloan explain the timeline to you how it all came down quote So just so I follow this story: Hunter Biden, who lives in Los Angeles, decides to fly 3000 miles across country, to drop off 3 MacBook Pros at a repair shop run by a blind guy who charges the insanely low price of $85. He gets off the plane and drunk drives to the repair shop. He drops them off, signs a contract for repair and then disappears. The repair shop owner recovers and reads Hunter's *private* emails, a few of which mention a possible meeting with his dad and is so alarmed, he contacts the FBI. The FBI arranges to pick up the hard drives, but the computer repair shop owner takes a totally normal step of copying them. Once he realizes the FBI isn't doing anything with them, he calls up the most credible ex-Mayor on Earth (Rudy Giuliani) and hands them the contents of these drives. That totally credible ex-Mayor sits on them for months, then chooses to release them 3 weeks before the election via the NY Post. The mainstream media asks to independently verify their validity but said ex-Mayor does what all people trying to prove facts do and ignores these requests. Is this how stupid we are now? No one who does data recovery would read through thousands of personal emails, even if the computer is abandoned. You'd just wipe the drives clean and sell the computers used. If these emails were as alarming as it's being pushed, Giuliani wouldn't have sat on them for months. And if Giuliani wanted to prove their validity, he'd turn them over to forensic experts. End quote. Oh yea, then over the weekend, Charlie kirk’s twitter account got locked for spreading misinformation regarding ballots being thrown out. Scott Atlas got his account locked out and tweet deleted because he said masks don’t work. He’s on the WH rona task force. So yea. This is how stupid we are now. But social media is taking all the blame for dumbing us down. 2. Stimi 1. Remember the stimulus? Thought that was gonna happen this year? Maybe. But before the election? Possibly. nancy pelosi on Saturday gave the White House 48 hours to get something together if they want it done before November 3. And while the trump admin has said most recently they would be willing to get closer to the democrats number, we’re still not sure if a deal can be reached by the end of the day. Btw, theres 15 days until the election. Yea. 15. Quote Over the course of the last five days, Pelosi and Mnuchin have spent roughly three and a half hours on the phone in negotiations. Pelosi outlined five central areas where there remained significant disagreement. Those listed issues didn't even include things like unemployment insurance and liability protections. In other words, negotiators essentially have about a day to bridge divides that have existed since the start of these talks. End quote. And we’re really talking specific words here. Like whether the bill says, money /shall/ be spent in a specific way vs what WH wants it to say, money /may/ be spent in a specific way. Which is a hell of a difference. Trump says he wants to do a bigger number that what pelosi wants. But he doesn’t know anything about these talks. He’s not involved, he just gets briefed, so all he’s really looking for is something to talk about on the campaign trail. He wouldn’t even know where the money goes or comes from. And will congress even approve such numbers. McConnel says the senate would consider it. But that dont mean they’d agree to it. 3. Asteroid 2020 1. are you tired of 2020 yet? Well the universe might be telling us something. Like they’re tired of it too. Or maybe not. Our favorite astrophysicist Neil degrade Tyson made headlines this weekend when he let us know that an asteroid, about the size of a refrigerator was hurtling towards the earth and may possibly strike us, or buzz cut is on November 2. The day before the eleciton. Perfect timing. But I mean, like, really? Do I really need this added stress in my life that I have no control over? Well NDT says it probably wont be a problem it may not even hit the earth and just pass us by. or might just graze the atmosphere. There’s actually only a 0.41% chance that it enters the atmosphere, and even then it would probably just disintegrate upon impact. But you know the odds of winning the lottery are even slimmer, yet people drop dollars on dollars daily for that chance. So, who knows? What we do know, is that we’ll either get a light show, or we won’t, but end of the earth? Not becuase of the universe. Not this time. 4. Rebirth of MTV? 1. Remember MTV? The channel. Not the one filled with reality shows. The one that stood for Music Television. They had Video Jockeys and dope musician interviews. And you always knew what was popular, because they would tell you. Then BET got into the mix with a few video shows, most famously 106&park. But that faded away when Youtube came about. Now you can watch videos on demand, the ones I want to watch. But if you’re an old viejo like me, you dont know whats poppin. And I dont trust the algorithms. So I welcome the news that Apple is tryna do something about that. They’re launching today Apple Music TV. A Free human curated livestream of popular music videos that will quote also include “exclusive new music videos and premiers, special curated music video blocks, and live shows and events as well as chart countdowns and guests,” according to the announcement. end quote. You can find it in the Apple Music app or Apple TV app in the Browse section. Or at apple.com/applemusictv quote On Thursday (October 22), it will celebrate the upcoming release of Bruce Springsteens’s “Letter to You” album with an “all day Bruce takeover” featuring music-video blocks of his most popular videos, an interview with Zane Lowe, anchor of Apple Music’s radio station, and a special livestream fan event. It will also have two exclusive video premieres on Friday at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT, Joji’s “777” and Saint Jhn’s “Gorgeous”; the channel will premiere new videos every Friday at noon. end quote Pretty dope. I like seeing the company continue to expand in the music space and embrace the return of the music video. maybe I can finally learn who this Joji impersonator is. (Inside joke) 5. World Series is set 1. Well the World Series of baseball is officially setup. I always found it weird they call it the World Series when its only American teams and Toronto but thats besides the point. The LA Dodgers or Los Doyers will be facing the Tampa Bay Rays. LA has been in the World Series 3 out of the last 4 years, last time in 2018. Looking for their 7th World Series title, while Tampa is looking for a franchise first. This will be their second time in the World Series, they haven’t been back since 2008. Personally, I’d like to see the dodgers take this win, cuz I’m really not liking the Rays lately. But I’m also quite aware that those rays might just walk away with this one. Games start tomorrow night, on FOX. *OUTRO* Well my beautiful people, those are my Top 5 news stories of the day. *In probably the best quote of the weekend, trumpito said maybe he’ll have to leave the country if Biden wins.
